  • The present work reports preparation of irbesartan (IBS) loaded nanofibre mats using electrospinning technique. The prepared nanofibres were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray diffraction analysis, in vitro diffusion and ex vivo skin permeation studies. FTIR studies revealed chemical compatibility of IBS and polyvinyl pyrrolidine (PVP K-30). SEM images confirmed formation of nanofibres wherein IBS existed in amorphous form as revealed by DSC and XRD analyses.

  • The aim of this study was to produce isotactic polypropylene based composites filled with waste thermosetting bulk moulded composite (BMC). The influence of BMC waste addition (5, 10, 20 wt%) on composites structure and properties was investigated. Moreover, additional studies of chemical treatment of the filler were prepared. Modification of BMC waste by calcium stearate (CaSt) powder allows to assess the possibility of the production of composites with better dispersion of the filler and more uniform properties.

  • The oxidation behavior of two types of inhomogeneous nickel was investigated in air at 1273 K for a total oxidation time of 100 h. The two types were porous sintered-nickel and microstructurally inhomogeneous cast-nickel. The porous-nickel samples were fabricated by compacting Ni powder followed by sintering in vacuum at 1473 K for 2 h. The oxidation kinetics of the samples was determined gravimetrically. The topography and the cross-section microstructure of each oxidized sample were observed using optical and scanning electron microscopy.

  • Experimental investigation on the effects of styrene acrylic polymer and silica fume on the mineralogical composition of pastes of high-early-strength portland cement after 28 days of casting are presented in this paper. Thermogravimetry and derivative thermogravimetry were used to study the interaction between polymers and cements, and the extent of pozzolanic reaction of mortars with silica fume. Differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffraction were also used to investigate the cement hydration according to the additions.

  • A dynamic nanoindentation method was applied to study an Fe-18 at.% Gd alloy as a neutron-absorbing material prepared by vacuum arc-melting and cast in a mold. The Fe-18 at.% Gd cast alloy had a microstructure with matrix phases and an Fe-rich primary dendrite of Fe9Gd. Rietveld refinement of the X-ray spectra showed that the Fe-18 at.% Gd cast alloy consisted of 35.84 at.% Fe3Gd, 6.58 at.% Fe5Gd, 16.22 at.% Fe9Gd, 1.87 at.% Fe2Gd, and 39.49 at.% b-Fe17Gd2. The average nanohardness of the primary dendrite phase and the matrix phases were 8.7 GPa and 9.3 GPa, respectively.

  • In the present study, the intended dagger is analyzed using metallographic microscopes (OM), scanning electron microscope (SEM-EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and radiography. The results and data obtained from device analysis of the dagger indicated Copper-Arsenic alloy (Cu- As) which hasbeen made using casting method. The existence of Cuprite, Tenorite and Paratacamite phases indicated the variable environmental conditions which had resulted in the brittleness and flimsiness of the bronze dagger.
