A finite element model using a multi-fiber approach is proposed in this paper for the analysis of reinforced concrete (RC) members using fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) reinforcements, with a specific focus on the effect of pure torsion. The proposed model is formulated using a displacement-based approach and a kinematic assumption involving a twonode Timoshenko beam.

This paper presents a developed three-dimensional (3D) finite element model (FEM) of flexural and shear strengthening of reinforced concrete (RC) T-beams using a CFRP (Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Polymer) system combined by near-surface mounted (NSM) strips and U-wraps subjected by asymmetric loading. The 3D FEM was verified by experimental results.

The shear strength of corroded reinforced concrete (CRC) beams is a critical consideration during the design stages of RC structures. In this study, we propose a machine learning technique for estimating the shear strength of CRC beams across a range of service periods.

The distance from the nearest concrete exposed surface to the centroidal axis of main longitudinal steel reinforcing bars, so-called axis distance, plays a critical role in ensuring the safety of reinforced concrete (RC) structures under fire, as it helps the rebars not being directly exposed to heating in a fire incident.

Steel corrosion affects the failure mechanism of deteriorated reinforced concrete (RC) beams. Meanwhile, there is a lack of research on the shear behavior of corroded RC beams, particularly corroded steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) beams. This paper investigates the shear behavior of corroded SFRC beams with a 1.5 shear span-to-depth ratio. All beam specimens included steel fibers with 50 kg/m3.

Predicting the residual flexural capacity of corroded reinforced concrete (RC) structures is to help civil engineers decide to repair or strengthen the structures. This study presents the application of six single algorithm-based models of artificial intelligence, such as artificial neural network (ANN), support vector machine (SVM), classification and regression trees (CART), linear regression (LR), general linear model (GENLIN), and automatic Chisquared interaction detection (CHAID) to predict the residual flexural capacity of corroded RC structures.

The numerical results show a good correlation with the experimental results of the beam specimens, such as load-displacement curves, crack patterns, and failure modes. They allow confirming the capability of the developed FE model to predict the flexural performance of strengthened beams considering CFRP/concrete interfacial behavior.

Reinforced concrete (RC) T-shaped cross-section beam (so-called T-beam) is a common structural member in buildings where beams and slabs are monolithically cast together. In this paper, a simplified calculation method based on Russian design standard SP 468.1325800.2019 is introduced to determine the flexural strength of RC T-beams when exposed to ISO 834 standard fire.

The effect of corrosion on the structural behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) beams without stirrups was experimentally investigated. A total of eight medium-scale RC beams were constructed without stirrups. The beams were 150 mm in width, 200 mm in depth, and 1100 mm in length. Test variables included three distinct degrees of corrosion (0%, 3.13%, 4.11%, and 4.93% by mass loss of steel rebar). Six beams were subjected to an accelerated corrosion test, while two beams served as non-corroded control beams.

This paper deals with the effect of steel fiber amounts and the interaction between the fiber amount and stirrup ratio on the shear behavior and capacity of reinforced concrete (RC) deep beams with steel fibers. The experimental program was carried out on twelve deep beams with different fiber amounts (0, 30, 40, and 65 kg/m 3 ) and stirrup ratios (0.1, 0.15, and 0.25%).

This paper deals with a geometrically nonlinear finite element formulation for the analysis of torsional behaviour of RC members. Using the corotational framework, the formulation is developed for the inclusion of nonlinear geometry effects in a multi-fiber finite element beam model. The assumption of small strains but large displacements and rotations is adopted. The principle is an element-independent algorithm, where the element formulation is computed in a local reference frame which is uncoupled from the rigid body motions (translations and rotations) of the reference frame.

This paper presents an experimental study for the structural performance of reinforced concrete (RC) exterior beam–column joints rehabilitated using carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP). The present experimental program consists of testing 10 half-scale specimens divided into three groups covering three possible defects in addition to an adequately detailed control specimen. The considered defects include the absence of the transverse reinforcement within the joint core, insufficient bond length for the beam main reinforcement and inadequate spliced implanted column on the joint.
