Majority of 37 human aminoacyl tRNA synthetases have been incriminated in diverse, mostly recessive, genetic diseases. In accordance with this, we uncovered a novel homozygous valyl-tRNA synthetase 1 (VARS1) gene variant, leading to p.T1068M mutation. As in the previously reported VARS1 mutations, the affected individual harboring p.T1068M was experiencing a neurodevelopmental disorder with intractable seizures, psychomotor retardation, and microcephaly.

Brachygnathia, cardiomegaly and renal hypoplasia syndrome (BCRHS, OMIA 001595–9940) is a previously reported recessively inherited disorder in Australian Poll Merino/Merino sheep. Affected lambs are stillborn with various congenital defects as reflected in the name of the disease, as well as short stature, a short and broad cranium, a small thoracic cavity, thin ribs and brachysternum.

The association between CD14-159C/T polymorphism and sepsis has been assessed but results of current studies appeared conflicting and inconstant. This analysis was aimed to determine whether the CD14-159C/T polymorphism confers susceptibility to sepsis or is associated with increased risk of death from sepsis.

This study tests the predictive ability of the Tuckman-Chang model by applying it to charitable organizations that survived and did not survive the Great Recession, an economic event that negatively affected the charitable sector. Charitable organizations listed in the 2006 IRS Statistics of Income Exempt Organizations Sample File (SOI), hosted by the National Center for Charitable Statistics (NCCS) Data Archive, were compared to those listed in the 2011 IRS SOI File.

The symptoms of cool-temperature-induced chlorosis (CTIC) are widely existed in higher plants. Although many studies have shown that the genetic mechanism of CTIC is generally controlled by recessive genes in model plants, the dominant inheritance of albinism has not been reported thus far.

Concerned by the environmental and economic threats posed by fossil fuels as the source of energy, this study uses the case of Nigeria economy to understand the extent to which economic growth and carbon emissions matters for renewable energy demands. Exploring both the linear and nonlinear ARDL modelling framework, the main empirical findings are that the amplified responsiveness of the consequence of climate change has led to increase in the demand for renewable energy particularly when the underlying source of the emissions is attributable to activities in the transport sector.

Late leaf spot caused by Phaeoisariopsis personata is the most important disease on groundnut worldwide. Although fungicide treatment is effective, it is uneconomical to use because of high cost, hazardous to environment and insensitivity build up in pathogen. The deployment of resistant cultivars is a better option to control LLS disease in groundnut the investigation was undertaken to determine the mode of genetic inheritance of LLS resistance in two F2 and F3 segregating populations of groundnut.

Economic performance evaluation problem consists many criteria and sub criteria. Therefore it is a kind of multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) problem. It is very important for a country to monitor performance parameters in order to ensure that appropriate and timely decisions and plans can be made. Suitable performance measures can ensure that governments adopt a long-term perspective and allocate the country’s resources to the most effective activities. Fragile five (F5) countries namely Brazil, Turkey, India, Indonesia and South Africa have large and fast growing economies.

This paper presents an application of the split-population duration model in identifying operating strategies and structural attributes of commercial banks that increased their financial and temporal endurance (translated into probability and duration of survival, respectively) during the late 2000s recession. This study’s results identify the isolated effects of certain variables on a bank’s temporal endurance that have not been captured by other commonly used survival models.

The authors wanted to find out how recent financial crisis influenced performance of Croatian banks measured with ROA, ROE, NIM and Tobin's Q. Having this aim in mind, we have used many bank-specific, industry-specific or structural variables and macroeconomic variables. The analysis refers to 2007-2015 period. The research is conducted using static panel model on a balanced sample of Croatian banks listed on Zagreb Stock Exchange. The results of the analysis show that crisis dummy variable significantly influences performance but its direction is not uniform.

Cloud computing is a pattern for delivering ubiquitous and on demand computing resources based on pay-as-you-use financial model. Typically, cloud providers advertise cloud service descriptions in various formats on the Internet. On the other hand, cloud consumers use available search engines (Google and Yahoo) to explore cloud service descriptions and find the adequate service. Unfortunately, general purpose search engines are not designed to provide a small and complete set of results, which makes the process a big challenge.

Although the pathogenesis of paediatric-onset autoimmune hepatitis (pAIH) remains incompletely understood, genetic variants and environmental factors are known to be involved. Caspase recruitment domain family member 10 (CARD10) is a scaffold protein that participates in a complex pathway activating nuclear factor kappa-B (NFjB) and tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNF-a). This study aimed to investigate the association of CARD10 rs6000782 (g.37928186A > C) and TNF gene promoter rs1799724 (c.-1037C > T) variants with pAIH susceptibility in a cohort of Egyptian children.

The concept of change management has been evident for centuries. However, it has dramatically increased in the twenty first century as forces driving change are evolving at an increasing speed and the effects of a worldwide recession can be felt. Throughout the years organisations have put in place various methods and methodologies to manage change which include; structural, process and technological change. However, it is interesting to note that despite the fact that change is a topical subject amongst academics and consultants, only one third of all change initiatives succeed.

After reading this chapter, you should be able to: Define aggregate demand (AD) and explain the factors that cause it to change; define aggregate supply (AS) and explain the factors that cause it to change; discuss how AD and AS determine an economy's equilibrium price level and level of real GDP; describe how the AD-AS model explains periods of demand-pull inflation, cost-push inflation, and recession; identify how the aggregate demand curve relates to the aggregate expenditures model.
