Once antibiotic-resistant bacteria become established within the gut microbiota, they can cause infections in the host and be transmitted to other people and the environment. Currently, there are no effective modalities for decreasing or preventing colonization by antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Intestinal microbiota restoration can prevent Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) recurrences.

Multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria are a growing global threat, especially in healthcare facilities. Faecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is an effective prevention strategy for recurrences of Clostridioides difcile infections and can also be useful for other microbiota-related diseases.

Adjuvant therapies such as radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy are usually given after cancer surgery to improve the survival of cancer patients. However, despite advances in several adjuvant thera‑ pies, they are still limited in the prevention of recurrences.

Detecting a health-promoting lifestyle in colorectal cancer (CRC) survivors is of paramount importance to manage disease complications, prevent their recurrence, and enhance survival; however, no specialized tool has yet been provided to measure the lifestyle of these patients.

The clotting or hemostasis system is a meticulously regulated set of enzymatic reactions that occur in the blood and culminate in formation of a fibrin clot. The precisely calibrated signaling system that prevents or initiates clotting originates with the activated Factor Seven (FVIIa) complexed with tissue factor (TF) formed in the endothelium.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the sixth most common form of cancer worldwide. Although surgi‑ cal treatments have an acceptable cure rate, tumor recurrence is still a challenging issue. In this meta-analysis, we investigated whether statins prevent HCC recurrence following liver surgery.

The main reason for treatment failure after curative surgical resection of gastric cancer is intraabdominal spread, with 40–50% peritoneal seeding as primary localization of recurrence. Peritoneal relapse is seen in 60–70% of tumors of diffuse type, compared to only 20–30% of intestinal type.

Pulmonary side efects are well known, including lung fibrosis, in elderly patients treated with longterm nitrofurantoin to prevent urinary tract infections and secondary renal injury. However, pulmonary side efects have only been reported rarely in paediatric cases, despite nitrofurantoin being a first line prophylactic treatment of recurrent childhood urinary tract infection.

A 2 years old domestic shorthair tom was presented with history of unknown blunt trauma which led to intestinal prolapse. Upon clinical examination, part of the prolapsed intestinal tissue was necrotic. The case was unusual and treated surgically under general anaesthesia. Intestinal resection and anastomosis followed by colopexy was done to prevent recurrence. The case recovered uneventfully.

Simple bone cysts are common benign lytic bone lesions in children. The main goals of treatment for bone cysts are to prevent pathological fractures, support the healing process, and prevent recurrence. This retrospective study compared fixation with titanium elastic intramedullary nailing (TEN) versus aspiration and injection of autogenous bone marrow (ABM) for the treatment of simple bone cysts in children.

Patient education, advice on returning to normal activities and (home-based) exercise therapy are established treatment options for patients with non-specific low back pain (LBP). However, the effectiveness of physiotherapy interventions on physical functioning and prevention of recurrent events largely depends on patient self-management, adherence to prescribed (home-based) exercises and recommended physical activity behaviour.

Tamoxifen (TAM) is widely used in the chemotherapy of breast cancer and as a preventive agent against recurrence after surgery. However, extended TAM administration for breast cancer induces increased VEGF levels in patients, promoting new blood vessel formation and thereby limiting its efficacy.
