General diagenetic patternsin Miocene Muddy Creek Formation and upper Devonian OldRed Sandstone (ORS) can be characterized as follows:i) early diagenesis characterized by the formation of early hematite, carbonate, and clay cement; ii) burial diagenesis followed by the formation of quartz and feldspar overgrowths, poikilotopic calcite andpore-filling-clays;iii)late diagenesis characterized by the formation of late hematite replacing previous poikilotopic carbonate cement.

The Red River Delta (RRD) is the second largest delta in Vietnam and is a significant economic zone in the country, encompassing important cities and economic zones. Geologically, the delta consists of clay layers distributed all over its area, which strongly impact the foundation designs of the infrastructure system (e.g., highways, industrial parks, harbors).

Diagenesis in the Permo-Triassic New Red Sandstone, Isle of Arran is characterized by early cementation of hematite, clay, and calcite minerals, followed by burial compaction, quartz, feldspar, and pyrite cementation. Cataclasis post-dated the quartz and feldspar cementation and reduced the grain and pore aperture size in deformed samples.

The Ma river delta located in the North Central of VietNam is the third largest ones in Vietnam following the Mekong Delta and the Red River Delta. However, there are not many researches on sedimentary. This study aims to determine the Characteristics of the Holocene sedimentary facies in coastal plain of the Song Ma Delta based on observation of sedimentary structure and analysis of grain size, diatom, flora, pollen and 14C dating collected for the drill core (LKTH2 borehole) from the coastal plain of the Song Ma river delta.

The tractor drawn ginger harvester cum elevator was developed with an objective to have mechanical means for harvesting of ginger crop. The components were designed and developed keeping in view the relevant crop, soil and machine parameters. The machine consisted of a main frame, digging blade, depth gauge wheel, vibration unit, power transmission system, and conveying mechanism. The performance evaluation of developed machine was evaluated at Chitta village of Bidar district of Karnataka State. The experiment was undertaken in red clay soil; the observed moisture content was 13.

The field experiment was conducted during the kharif seasons of 2013 and 2015 at ZARS, University of Agricultural Sciences, Gandhi Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bengaluru on red sandy clay loam soil to know the influence of periodical staggered nipping and spacing on Botrytis disease infestation and quality of castor. Nipping and different spacing’s in castor significantly influenced the disease incidence and castor oil yield. Periodical staggered nipping leaving one spike in each branch recorded lower Botrytis disease scoring (2.71) and chaffiness (6.43 %) as compared to non-nipping treatments.

A field experiment was conducted during summer season of 2004 and 2005 to find out the effect of various sources (FYM, VC and PM) and rates of organic manures (100%, 125%, 150% RND) on yield, quality and economics of onion (Pusa Red) on a sandy clay-loam soil low in available N and medium in available phosphorus and potassium. Pooled data analysis revealed that the application of organic manure significantly influenced the yield attributes and bulb yield of onion over 100% RND as urea (control).

The present study was undertaken to assess the status of available Zinc in relation to soil physico-chemical properties in nineteen soil samples collected from three different blocks of Birbhum district of West Bengal. In general, textural class ranged from sandy loam to sandy clay loam. Soils were strong to moderately acidic in reaction. Soil organic carbon status ranged from 0.24 to 0.81% and was low in available P status. The DTPA-extractable zinc content in the surface soils under study, varied from 0.37 to 1.28 mg kg-1 with an average value 0.856 mg kg-1 .

Developed model is based on digital image processing techniques under RS-GIS domain, in which conversion of Intensity, Hue and Saturation to RGB image of SWIR, NIR and red spectral bands has been applied for the signature capture of clay soils. To achieve this target, spectral enhancement process was initiated by using of AWiFS data (May, 2015). Clear cut demarcation of clay soil patches from surrounding was observed in blue tone of the converted RGB image. Out of the total geographical area, the maximum coverage of clay soils was observed in Mokama (12.79%) followed by Pandarakh (11.

A major nutritional problem to crops grown in highly weathered Brazilian soils is phosphorus (P) deficiencies linked to their low availability and the capacity of the soils to fix P in insoluble forms. Our studies examined factors that might influence P behavior in soils of the Amazon region.

Geochemical and mineralogical studies of palaeosols provide essential information for palaeoclimatic and palaeoenvironmental interpretation of continental deposits and can present a proxy for palaeoclimate. Red clays in the central Carpathian Basin (Hungary) (Tengelic Red Clay Formation; Kerecsend Red Clay Formation), overlain by loess–palaeosol sequences, were studied.

The study area is situated in the Araplı-Erdemli (Kayseri) area in the north-eastern part of the Cappadocian Volcanic Province (CVP), central Anatolia. The Late Miocene series comprises lacustrine and fluvial deposits interbedded with ignimbrites and lava flows. The Late Miocene Mustafapaşa member of the Ürgüp Formation comprises yellow to red mudstone that alternates with thin sandstone beds in the north-eastern part of the CVP.

Margin deltas are the last ones that were formed in a shelf break zone, when a sea level has slowdown during last time of a forced regression and the beginning of the success transgression. The margin deltas are abruptly thickened in the zone of shelf break, became thinner landward and basinward. Because they were formed in the shelf edge, they have a relatively high sand/clay ratio, prone to turbidite. In the northern part of the Red River basin, during the Miocene the margin deltas had developed eastward from the plot 103, i.e. from the borehole 103-TH-1X, 103-TG-1X and...

There are five Quaternary sedimentary sequences in the Red River Delta, Vietnam. The forming of each sequence is related to transgression and regression phases. The sequences, which was formed in transgression period, composed mainly of fine grained size leading to the water bearing capacity is very low and plays a role as aquicludes. Besides, in these fine grain size layers, the contents of arsenic and iron are high, especially in dark clay, silty clay rich in organic material ...

Roofs were made from red clay tiles, much like our roofs today. First create the sloping roofs out of card. To make the card the right shape, cut strips that are just a little longer than each box and twice as wide. Either paint each roof a red, rusty colour to represent tiles, or stick on small squares of red painted paper in layers to create a tile effect. Fold the strips of card in half and place on top of each box to create a sloping roof. Secure in place with sticky tape on the inside of the roof. Fill in the triangular gap at either end of the roof with...

“Be it deep or shallow, red or black, sand or clay, the soil is the link between the rock core of the earth and the living things on its surface. It is the foothold for the plants we grow. Therein lays the main reason for our interest in soils.” --- Roy W. Simonson, USDA Yearbook of Agriculture, 1957. The British naturalist Charles Darwin (1809–1882) was probably the first scientist to examine a soil profile and suggest factors responsible for the structure of the various layers.

The addition of clay in the form of bauxite refining residue (red mud) prior to composting has been suggested as a way to control heavy metal mobility in compost. Leachability and plant availability of metals in a mixture of grass clippings and sawdust spiked with metal solution was markedly reduced during the composting process.
