This paper surveys the Gymnosperm species in Yen Tu National Forest, Quang Ninh province. A total of 15 Gymnosperm species were found in Yen Tu National Forest belonging to the 5 families Podocarpaceae, Cupressaceae, Cycadaceae, Pinaceae and Gnetaceae. Gymnosperm species in Yen Tu National Forest have a high conservation value with all 15 species listed in IUCN (2015), 02 species in Viet Nam red data book (2007) and 03 species are listed in Decree 32/2006 of the Vietnamese government.

Cephalotaxus mannii Hook. f. is a rare evergreen conifer native listed in the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List, which is utilized for leukemia treatment. Although endophytic fungi from C. mannii was reported before, their cytotoxic property has not been revealed yet.

This species is only known from Thien Duong Cave and it is now strongly threatened by anthropic action. Based on the current area of occupancy (AOO) and the extent of occurrence (EOO) of V. thienduongensis, in association with its recent regression in both AOO and the number of individuals, this species is tentatively classified as critically endangered by IUCN.

Khảo sát động vật đáy (Crustacea) ở các thủy vực trong vùng núi Tam Đảo, tỉnh Vĩnh Phúc đã được tiến hành năm 2016 và 2017. Sau 6 đợt khảo sát, đã xác định 47 loài động vật đáy thuộc 33 giống, 18 họ, 10 bộ và 5 lớp, trong số đó, có loài cua, Indochinamon tannanti, hiện được ghi trong Sách Đỏ Việt Nam 2007 ở mức nguy cấp (VU); loài trai, Sinanodonta jourdyi, được đánh giá ở mức sắp bị đe dọa (NT) trong IUCN Red List.

The domestic chinchilla has been descended from Chinchilla lanigera (long-tailed Chinchilla) or Chinchilla chinchilla (short-tailed Chinchilla). Both species of chinchilla are currently listed as endangered by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Over the past 20 years, they have spread as pets and overall knowledge about their care is improving. The present case report describes a congenital diaphragmatic hernia in a Chinchilla lanigera.

Siberian musk deer, one of the seven species, is distributed in coniferous forests of Asia. Worldwide, the population size of Siberian musk deer is threatened by severe illegal poaching for commercially valuable musk and meat, habitat losses, and forest fire. At present, this species is categorized as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. However, the genetic information of Siberian musk deer is largely unexplored.

The relict gull (Larus relictus), was classified as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List and is a first-class national protected bird in China. Genomic resources for L. relictus are lacking, which limits the study of its evolution and its conservation.

Result of study on the diversity of orchids in Southern East Viet Nam at 6 study sites from July 2019 to October 2020 have identified 173 orchids species belong to 50 diffrent genus, accounting for 14.41% of the total number of orchid species available in Viet Nam (1.200 species). Among them, all species were used as ornamental plants; 13 species were used for medicinal herbs; and 6 species were listed for conservation in Vietnam Red Data Book, (2019).

Cóc đỏ (Lumnitzera littorea (Jack) Voigt.) là loài cây ngập mặn (true mangrove) thuộc họ Bàng (Combretaceae). Đây là loài quý hiếm, có nguy cơ đe dọa tuyệt chủng cao và được phân hạng VU A1a, c, d trong Sách Đỏ Việt Nam và IUCN Red list (Bộ khoa học và Công nghệ, 2007; Su et al., 2007). Đối với công tác bảo tồn và phục hồi quần thể cóc đỏ ở tự nhiên, có hai vấn đề chính cần được quan tâm. Bài báo này nêu lên một số kết quả di trồng loài Cóc đỏ (Lumnitzera littorea) tại đầm Thủy Triều (huyện Cam Lâm, tỉnh Khánh Hòa), phục vụ cho công tác phục hồi và bảo tồn quần thể cóc đỏ.

This paper provides an update on the current status of each species based on data from recent field surveys with reference to previous publications and the current IUCN Red List (iucnredlist.org). Results from the recent surveys included eight individuals provisionally identified as Myotis cf. pilosus. The taxonomic status of five species (Aselliscus dongbacanus, Hipposideros gentilis, Hipposideros grandis, Miniopterus magnater, Murina harrisoni) are updated following recent assessments.

In recent herpetological surveys, we recorded six snakes comprising two species of Culubridae (Amphiesma stolatum, Hebius leucomystax), two species of Homalopsidae (Enhydris enhydris, E. subtaeniata), one species of Pareatidae (Pareas hamptoni), and one species of Xenopeltida (Xenopeltis unicolor) for the first time in Binh Dinh province, central-southern Vietnam. Karanja estuary, an important estuarine ecosystem located adjoining to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port (largest container handling Seaport in India), Raigad district of Maharashtra. The North West coast of India is famous for the dol nets fishery. Dol nets (a kind of bag net) are operated in coastal seas having strong tidal currents and amplitude with its mouth opening always facing towards the direction of the tide.

Coscinium fenestratum (Gaertn.) Colebr, a important medicinal vine is considered as critically endangered or restricted to the humus rich soil. It has abundant use in ayurvedic, siddha, tibetan medicine system. The plant is already Red listed and at the verge of extinction. So a transcriptome study and the GC analysis of the plant are vital. The research provides information on its transcriptome and its stability which can be used for further studies. The leaf tissue of C.fenestratum was collected, sequenced using illumina paired end sequencing.

Jewels of Opar (Talinum paniculatum) is a herbaceous plant known for its highly medicinal value. This medicinal plant is listed in the Red List of Vietnam’s medicinal plants and in the handbook of Vietnam’s medicinal plants, both documents warranting its necessity for protection. Jewels of Opar contains bioactive substances such as phytosterols, saponins, flavonoids, tannins, steroids, and many other inorganic substances. Jewels of Opar plants collected in Thanh Hoa, Vietnam, are tree-like herbs, their green trunks grows straight up and then branch out.

Status survey of the cave scorpion, Euscorpiops cavernicola, was carried in a cave system of Bac Kan province. A total of 56 (9 adults) and 45 (7 adults) individuals were recorded during the years 2014 and 2015, respectively. This species is only known from Hua Ma cave, which is strongly threatened by tourism development.
