In this paper, using data spanning from January 2000 to September 2019, we applied asymmetric and partial structural change models to examine the impact of oil price on food prices in Nigeria. Results from the asymmetric model showed that positive margins in crude oil price reduce the price of food, while negative margins co-move with food price in the long-run. The story is different in the short-run, where both positive and negative changes in oil price exert positive effects on food price.

The Basel III Capital Adequacy Accord (BCAA) will cap government capital injections as qualifying capital at 90% of the nominal amount of such capital outstanding, beginning in 2013, and the cap will decline by 10% during each subsequent year (Eubanks, 2010); this cap is called a capped ratio schedule of government capital instruments. The simulation results show that three to five bond funds reduce standard deviation of terminal wealth by 50% and about 100 funds reduce the standard deviation by 90%. Given the annualized marginal cost of 0.13% for bond funds, bond investors should hold three to five funds. However, equity investors who want to diversify need only one to two bond funds, regardless of risk measures. Holding more than two bond funds does not reduce portfolio risk much further especially for portfolios with high equity weights.

Turmeric is one of the important spice crops grown in India. Root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne spp.) is a major problem, which causes galls/knots in the rhizomes and causes considerable yield loses. It also makes the way for the secondary infection by different pathogens like Pythium, Fusarium and Ralstonia in the soil. Yield losses due to nematode infestation are reported in turmeric-growing areas. A roving survey was conducted for incidence of root-knot nematode in turmeric during kharif season in 2016 at Belagavi, Bagalkot, Chamarajanagar and Kalburgi districts of Karnataka.
