Estimation of crop water requirement is essential for agricultural planning and irrigation scheduling. The aim of this study was to compute the water requirement of wheat and rice crops for all districts of Haryana. Climatic data on maximum and minimum temperature, rainfall, relative humidity, wind speed and solar radiation were used to estimate the reference evapotranspiration (ETo) at different gridded locations by using Penman Monteith method in MATLAB software.

The aim of this study was to estimate solar radiation and reference crop evapotranspiration by using of limited weather parameters. This paper also describes the modification of the original equation with maximum and minimum temperatures for solar radiation. Thus, modifications involved for the corrections associated with climatological parameters and also to determine the accuracy and applicability of a number of existing and newly developed formulae for calculating solar radiation from other weather variables.

Agricultural planning relying on evapotranspiration suffers due to inaccuracy in its estimation. The non-availability of meteorological parameters required for accurate estimation of reference evapotranspiration (ETo) resulted in the development of different methods of ETo estimation. The present study compares various universally accepted methods of ETo estimation by considering the Penman Monteith (FAO 56 PENMEN-MONTEITH) as a standard method.

For accurate computation of crop water requirement, precise and globally acceptable method of estimating tall crop reference evapotranspiration i.e. Penman-Monteith was recommended by many authors. The method predicts tall crop reference evapotranspiration based on different climatic parameters. In present study, Penman-Monteith reference evapotranspiration at Udaipur station for period of 1991-2010 was calculated for tall crop reference surface.

A field experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of irrigation levels using drip irrigation system for Lettuce crop grown under polyhouse and in open field condition during winter season (November-February) for two consecutive years (2014-15 and 2015- 16) at the Experimental Farm area of Precision Farming Development Centre Project, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India. Reference evapotranspiration was estimated using FAO-56 Penman Monteith approach.

The crop water requirement (CWR) and irrigation requirement (IR) of rice crops were calculated using a web based software. Relevant crop coefficients (Kc), duration of crops and cropping pattern were used to calculate CWR from ETo. These coefficients present the relationship between references (ETo) and crop evapotranspiration (ET crop) or ET crop = Kc * ETo. The covered area of all crops (canopy cover) was collected.

To control the overexploitation of accessible water resources, it has become essential to define proper strategies for planning, development, and management of water resources. Proper modification in traditional irrigation practices helps improve water use efficiency. CROPWAT is an FAO suggested model for proper management of irrigation.

Designing, establishing and managing irrigation projects, and scheduling irrigation requires estimating a crop seasonal water requirement. Lysimeter experiment conducted on green gram during Kharif season. His experiment was aimed at determining the seasonal crop evapotranspiration (ETc) and crop coefficient (Kc) of green gram crop for different development stages.

The available water decreases as world demand for water increases for various purposes such as industrial, agriculture hydropower. To improve the water use efficiency, there is a need to modify traditional irrigation scheduling. In the present study, the CROPWAT model was used to estimation the irrigation scudding for rice and cotton crop to improve water use efficiency. From the analysis, it was found that reference evapotranspiration was almost directly proportional to the radiation and sunshine hours and inversely proportional to the relative humidity.

The study was conducted in Shipra river basin to determine actual evapotranspiration in the area. Long term daily meteorological data including rainfall, maximum temperature, minimum temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and sunshine hours of Indore IMD station was used as input data in CROPWAT Model 8.0. The potential evapotranspiration was converted into actual evapotranspiration by using the crop coefficient. Reference evapotranspiration is a measure of evaporative demand, while the crop coefficient accounts for crop characteristics and management practices (e.g.

Crop water Requirement (CWR) is the key to design a suitable irrigation system for a particular crop. In this paper CWR of major vegetable crops for six agro-climatic zones of Madhya Pradesh is estimated on the basis of Reference Evapotranspiration. The study is performed for major vegetable crops namely tomato, onion, pea, brinjal, potato and okra. The crop water requirement found to vary with stages of the crop growth and the reference evapotranspiration.

The reference evapotranspiration (ET0) of Morena station was estimated using multiple linear regression (MLR), The climatological data such as maximum temperatures, minimum temperature, mean relative humidity, wind speed and solar radiation were collected for the morena station and district of Madhya Pradesh state of India for the period of thirty years and the missing value of that data series was also determine using SPSS-21 software. The observed reference evapotranspiration (ET0) values were estimated using the Penman monteith (FAO56-PM) equation.

In order to give precise amount of irrigation through drip irrigation system, it is important to estimate the reference evapotranspiration (ETo) and crop evapotranspiration (ETc) for any crops. In this study, crop evapotranspiration (ETc) was determined for the Green chilli cultivated in the polyhouse and open field for the semi-arid climatic condition in Kumulur, Tamil Nadu, as it changes with the crop characteristics, climatic conditions and management practices. The chilli variety chosen was TNAU Hybrid CO1.

The reference evapotranspiration (ETo) is an important agrometeorological parameter which has been used in a number of applications. In present study daily ETo was determined for seven districts of Marathwada region having long period (29-35 years) weather data by Hargreaves method. The Kc values for kharif sorghum, maize and pearlmillet as given in FAO-56 paper was used to calculate the daily crop water requirement (ETc). The results revealed that, ETo reaches to its peak value during 28th April to 18th May at all the districts of marathwada region.

The quantification of evapotranspiration and soil evaporation is crucial for agricultural water management. The FAO56 Penman–Monteith and E-DiGOR models were used to compute reference evapotranspiration (Eto) and bare soil evaporation, respectively, at 17 meteorological stations of South Korea, from 1980 to 2009.
