In this paper, a method proposed to increase processing speed and reduce image capacity in JPEG2000 image standard. The selected region of interest (ROI) utilized to retain the important parts of the image and ignore the other regions. The advantages of this proposed method is: It can be performed 5 levels corresponding to the levels in FDWT.

During contrast enhanced ultrasound (CEUS), the features of the regions of interest (ROI) can affect the value of the perfusion-related parameters obtained from a time intensity curve (TIC). In veterinary medicine, conflicting have been reported on the influence of ROI size and location on renal CEUS. There are some disagreeing evidences regarding the optimal method for selecting ROI in quantitative analysis of renal perfusion using CEUS.

Since the introduction of microarrays in 1995, researchers world-wide have used both commercial and custom-designed microarrays for understanding differential expression of transcribed genes. Public databases such as ArrayExpress and the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) have made millions of samples readily available. One main drawback to microarray data analysis involves the selection of probes to represent a specific transcript of interest, particularly in light of the fact that transcript-specific knowledge (notably alternative splicing) is dynamic in nature.

Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) are utilized in cattle to identify regions or genetic variants associated with phenotypes of interest, and thus, to identify design strategies that allow for the increase of the frequency of favorable alleles. Visual scores are important traits of cattle production in Brazil because they are utilized as selection criteria, helping to choose more harmonious animals.

DCE@urLAB is a software application for analysis of dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging data (DCE-MRI). The tool incorporates a friendly graphical user interface (GUI) to interactively select and analyze a region of interest (ROI) within the image set, taking into account the tissue concentration of the contrast agent (CA) and its effect on pixel intensity.

Confocal microscopes deliver detailed three-dimensional data and are instrumental in biological analysis and research. Usually, this three-dimensional data is rendered as a projection onto a two-dimensional display. We describe a system for rendering such data using a modern virtual reality (VR) headset.

Selection of interesting regions from genome wide association studies (GWAS) is typically performed by eyeballing of Manhattan Plots. This is no longer possible with thousands of different phenotypes. There is a need for tools that can automatically detect genomic regions that correspond to what the experienced researcher perceives as peaks worthwhile of further study.

Seaweeds are rich sources of natural bioactive products. Their interesting biological activities contributed to the investigation of natural therapeutic compounds used in biomedical and pharmaceutical applications. In this study, methanolic extracts of four seaweeds collected from the Moroccan Atlantic coastline (Agadir) Bifurcaria bifurcata, Corallina elongata, Corallina officinalis and Ulva fasciata were investigated for antimicrobial activities using the disc diffusion and broth microdilution methods.

Twenty Candidate Plus Trees (CPTs) of Melia dubia were selected from different places covering Valsad, Narmada and The Dangs districts of South Gujarat region of India. Selection was made through individual selection method by considering qualitative and quantitative traits of economic interest like stem straightness, roundness, tree height, and clear bole height, girth at breast height and disease resistance. The selected candidate plus trees will be useful in development of superior quality planting material for mass propagation and future tree improvement programmes.

Providing convincing evidence on the effects of financial education is no easy task. The most straightforward but least reliable method is to ask people attending a seminar whether it was useful and whether participation will change their behaviour. There are three main problems. Attendance is self-selected. Those motivated to turn up may have the greatest interest in financial matters and may already be contemplating making a change in their finances.

Another BSP initiative that addresses the data gap is the Consumer Finance Survey, which aims to generate, measure and analyse data on the wealth, indebtedness, savings and investments of Philippine households. At present, the BSP is completing a pilot consumer finance survey, and it will soon be conducting the full-scale survey in selected regions. This is one of the initiatives that could shed more light on the role of consumer credit in the development of the Philippines and in elevating the well-being of its people....

Regions and gates can be made to better separate and analyze populations of interest. Furthermore, on the basis that the dyes used to stain cells have overlapping emission spectra, the compensation is normally made to reduce interference. While basic instruments may only permit the simultaneous collection of two or three fluorescence signals, the more complex and expensive research instruments mean that it is possible to obtain more than 14 parameters (Winson & Davey, 2000; Chattopadhyay et al., 2008) depending on the laser equipment utilized.

Consequently, it is necessary to integrate the information of all the spectral images to classify tissues. Multi-spectral image processing techniques [1-3] are hence employed to collect spectral information for classification and of clinically critical values. In this paper, a new classification approach was proposed, it is called unsupervised Vector Seeded Region Growing (UVSRG). The UVSRG mainly select seed pixel vectors by means of standard deviation and relative Euclidean distance.
