Rectal tumor segmentation on post neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has great significance for tumor measurement, radiomics analysis, treatment planning, and operative strategy. In this study, we developed and evaluated segmentation potential exclusively on post-chemoradiation T2-weighted MRI using convolutional neural networks, with the aim of reducing the detection workload for radiologists and clinicians

For the analysis of gene-environment (GxE) interactions commonly single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are used to characterize genetic susceptibility, an approach that mostly lacks power and has poor reproducibility. One promising approach to overcome this problem might be the use of weighted genetic risk scores (GRS), which are defined as weighted sums of risk alleles of gene variants. The gold-standard is to use external weights from published meta-analyses.

A non-parametric approach for detecting gene-gene interactions associated with age-at-onset outcomes
Cox-regression-based methods have been commonly used for the analyses of survival outcomes, such as age-at-disease-onset. These methods generally assume the hazard functions are proportional among various risk groups. However, such an assumption may not be valid in genetic association studies, especially when complex interactions are involved. In addition, genetic association studies commonly adopt case-control designs.

Diet has long been hypothesized to play an important role in hyperuricemia, and weight gain is a factor that is strongly associated with the rise in serum urate. We aimed to clarify the mediating role of obesity in the relationship between diet and hyperuricemia and to determine whether a weight-loss diet is an effective way to prevent hyperuricemia.

The best-performing model was the first test, indicating that direct input of the screened parameters was the ideal modelling process. This test had the lowest corrected Akaike Information Criterion (160.01), the highest percentage of deviance explained (46.18%), lowest spatial autocorrelation of residuals (0.1122) and transformed residuals (0.2827), highest success accuracy (91.24%), and second-best prediction accuracy (75.15%).

This study, the first such attempt in Turkey, aimed to investigate the distribution of diatom species related to the variation of total phosphorus (TP) in eight basins to determine trophic weight and indicator values of diatom species and to develop the Trophic Index-Turkey (TIT) for assessing the ecological status of freshwaters. The distribution of the diatom species in 225 running water bodies from 8 basins of Turkey was determined in 2014 (summer and fall) and 2015 (spring and summer) in association with TP variation.

Within the scope of the European Union Water Framework Directive, diatom assemblages as biological quality components were used to evaluate the ecological status of 12 surface waters in the Araban-Yavuzeli catchment between October 2013 and October 2014. A total of 75 diatom species were identified during the study period. Amphora ovalis, Denticula elegans, Gomphonema parvulum, Gomphonema truncatum, and Navicula cryptocephala were commonly observed.

Quantitative structure–activity relationship (QSAR) analysis of 28 quinoline-arylamidine (CQArA) hybrids against two leukemia cells, K562 and Raji, was performed. Multiple linear regression (MLR) models were obtained by genetic algorithm. The best models involved the following descriptors: radial distribution function (RDF) descriptors, GETAWAY (GEometry, Topology, and Atom-Weights AssemblY) descriptor, bond information content index, and dipole moment. The best MLR models for K562 and Raji cells demonstrated satisfactory stability in internal and external validation.

Deep neural networks (DNN) are a particular case of artificial neural networks (ANN) composed by multiple hidden layers, and have recently gained attention in genome-enabled prediction of complex traits. Yet, few studies in genome-enabled prediction have assessed the performance of DNN compared to traditional regression models.

In this paper, we study convergence in probability for the estimator of nonparametric regression model based on pairwise independent errors with heavy tails. Firstly, we investigate laws of large numbers for sequences of pairwise independent random variables with heavy tails. By applying this result, we investigate convergence in probability for the estimator of nonparametric regression model. Simulations to study the numerical performance of the consistency for the nearest neighbor weight function estimator in nonparametric regression model are given.

In India, the productivity of various crops is unstable mainly due to climatic factors, price volatility and resource availability. The pre-harvest forecasting of the crop productivity is a major priority to know about the market demand of the crops. The present study focused the ability of pre-harvest forecasting performance of stepwise regression method and the ARIMA method. In stepwise regression method, two approaches were developed namely (1) using week-wise original weather variable and (2) weather indices using correlation coefficient as weight.
