Relative humidity and tea

A study was conducted at tea growing regions of Assam to see the effect of climatic parameter on production of tea. Average production of tea started to diminish from 1992 and the trend had continued upto 2009. However, after 2010 the average production of tea started to increase. Results of correlation and regression analysis showed that except ‘number of rainy days’ other four variables (Temperature Range, Relative Humidity Range, Rainfall and Bright Sun Shine hours) are found to be significant.

The white button mushroom (Agaricus bisporus) is very popular throughout the world and is the most important mushroom of commercial significance in India. It can be successfully cultivated in places where the environmental conditions are favorable but it is cultivated in North India in winter seasons due to the favorable conditions. The optimum temperature for mycelial growth is 20°C -25°C and that for fruit body formation 15°C - 20°C and a high percentage of relative humidity (80-85%).

Seventy two weaned Syrian hamsters of either sex were randomly assigned to six treatments in single cages (290mm X 220mm X 140mm) in a closed room where the temperature and relative humidity was maintained 24±50C and 60±15%, respectively during the trial of 56 days.
