A magnetic molecularly imprinted electrochemical sensor was developed for selective determination of sufentanil (SUF) based on carbon paste electrode (CPE) modified with methacrylic acid-ethylene glycol dimethacrylate-coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles (Fe3O4@MAA-EGDMA NPs). The structural properties, chemical structure, and electrochemical behaviors of the imprinted sensor were characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and square wave voltammetry (SWV), respectively.

The results showed that 95.7% of the response current was retained after 17 activity assays. The ethanol biosensor gave perfect reproducible finding with 4.6% relative standard deviation. The prepared biosensor retained 55.8% of initial activity after 24 days when stored in 0.1 M phosphate buffer solution at 4 ◦ C. Effects of the several possible interfering substances such as ascorbic acid, citric acid, and methanol on the ethanol biosensor were investigated and the developed biosensor was tested in alcoholic beverages.

A new method based on the combination of carrier element-free coprecipitation and flame atomic absorption spectrometric determination has been investigated for simultaneous separation and preconcentration of Pb(II) and Cu(II) ions in some environmental solid and liquid samples. The 2-{3-(4-methylbenzyl)-4-[2-(1H-indol-3-yl)ethyl]-5-oxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl}-N’-(phenylmethylene) acetohydrazide (MITA) was utilized as an organic coprecipitating agent without using a carrier element for coprecipitation of the analyte ions.

The electrochemical activity of glycopyrrolate was studied. Different voltammetric techniques were applied in this study, including cyclic voltammetry (CV), differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), and linear sweep voltammetry (LSV). Glassy carbon and platinum working electrodes were utilized. CV indicated that glycopyrrolate has a reversible redox reaction on the working electrode surface, with an anodic peak current at approximately 1.05 V and a cathodic peak at 0.80 V. Several parameters that affect the sensitivity of these methods were optimized for the quantitation of glycopyrrolate.

A method for preconcentration of Al(III) prior to its determination by inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) was developed because the sensitivity of ICP-OES is insufficient for trace-level measurement of Al(III). The method is based on the use of Coriolus versicolor-immobilized γ-Fe2O3 magnetic nanoparticles as a solid phase sorbent. The best experimental conditions were found as pH 6.0, 2.0 mL/min flow rate, 100 mg amount of C. versicolor on 150 mg of γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles, and 500 mL of sample volume. In this paper, magnetic-molecularly imprinted polymer was used for the preconcentration of trace levels of imidacloprid in water and apple samples prior to liquid chromatography-quadrupole-time-of-flight mass spectrometric determination. The selectivity of the magnetic polymer was united with the sensitivity and the high resolving power of the chromatographic system. The developed method showed a linear range from 10.0 to 500.0 µg/L. The quantitative recoveries were obtained for water and apple samples in the range of 92.0%–99.0 %.

A simple and inexpensive method was developed using liquid - liquid extraction, together with high performance chromatographic method for determination of methoxyfenozide residues in grapes. The evaluated parameters include the extracts by distilled water and acetonitrile solvents. The electrolyte solutions, sweep rates, purges time, etc...were researched on the determination of cyanide. Distillation time of 90 minutes was recommended to use; some interferences of other anions including sulphide and sulphite were also investigated. Cyanide content ion of cassava and bamboo shoot has been determined by differential pulse polarography method using the quantitative technique of standard addition. The ranges of cyanide concentration in bamboo shoot were within 0.00045 -0.075 mg/g and from limit of detection to 1.7902 mg/g for cassava.

The presence of Escherichia coli (EC) microorganisms in live organs can cause foodborne illnesses and food-related deaths. Here, EC assay was performed using a microcopper three-electrode (MCE) system, where a handmade MCE was used as a working electrode and Ag/AgCl as reference and platinum counter electrodes. Under a 1.0-ml EC standard, the diagnostic optimum conditions were sought. The analytical oxidation potential was obtained at -0.2 V via positive scan. Under these conditions, the stripping linear working range was attained with 0.2-0.7 mg/mL EC variations.

A simple and sensitive extraction-spectrophotometric method is described for the determination of sulfonamide drugs, namely sulphamethoxazole, sulphaguanidine, sulphaquinoxaline, sulphametrole and sulphadimidine, in both pure form and in the dosage forms available in Egyptian markets. The method is based on ion-pair formation between the sulphonamides and Mo(V)-thiocyanate inorganic complex in a sulphuric acid medium followed by extraction of the coloured ion-pairs with 1,2-dichloroethane. A simple and rapid vortex assisted ionic liquid based liquid–liquid microextraction technique (VALLME) was proposed for preconcentration of trace levels of cadmium. According to this method, the extraction solvent was dispersed into the aqueous samples by the assistance of vortex agitator. Cadmium preconcentration was mediated by chelation with the 8-hydroxyquinoline (oxine) reagent and an IL, 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([Omim][PF6]) was chosen as the extraction solvent to extract the hydrophobic complex.

A simple microextraction method based on solidification of a floating organic drop (SFOD) was developed for preconcentration of lead prior to its determination by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS). Ammonium pyrolidinedithiocarbamate (APDC) was used as complexing agent, and the formed complex was extracted into a 20 lL of 1-undecanol. The extracted complex was diluted with ethanol and injected into a graphite furnace.

The results revealed that the relative deviation between the values of absorbed doses obtained with our dosimeter and the transfer standards dosimeter measured by HDRL was within the acceptable limitation (about ± 3.0 % in the target range of 2.0-10.0 kGy). And post-irradiation stability of B3 film dosimeters was still maintained after 180 days storage.
