This study was conducted to: (1) identify new SNPs for residual feed intake (RFI) and performance traits within candidate genes identified in a genome wide association study (GWAS); (2) estimate the proportion of variation in RFI explained by the detected SNPs; (3) estimate the effects of detected SNPs on carcass traits to avoid undesirable correlated effects on these economically important traits when selecting for feed efficiency; and (4) map the genes to biological mechanisms and pathways.

In this study, we present a method for all-optical image compression using all-optical Karhunen-Loeve transform (KLT). The KLT was designed in all-optical domain using only one multimode interference (MMI) coupler. The Karhunen-Loeve transform (KLT) is very attractive for image processing applicaons due to its computing efficiency, residual correlation, and rate distortion criteria benefits.

. In the calculation of improvement of embankments on soft soils, the geometrical parameters of soil cement columns such as the length L, diameter d, the distance between the columns D, greatly affect to the stability of embankments (settlement S, coefficient of stability Fs) and treatment efficiency.

The identification of functionally important residue positions is an important task of computational biology. Methods of correlation analysis allow for the identification of pairs of residue positions, whose occupancy is mutually dependent due to constraints imposed by protein structure or function.

Residues in a protein might be buried inside or exposed to the solvent surrounding the protein. The buried residues usually form hydrophobic cores to maintain the structural integrity of proteins while the exposed residues are tightly related to protein functions.

A field experiment was conducted in kharif 2011on blackgram genotype T-9. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replication and thirteen treatments. There was significant improvement recorded in yield, nutrient content, uptake and physico-chemical properties viz. pH, electrical conductivity, organic carbon and available N and P of soil under black gram crop. Grain yield was increased by 47.06% in treatment T13 over control while, organic carbon showed significantly highly positive correlation with available nitrogen (r=.878) in post harvest soil.

An experiment was carried out with 30 basmati genotypes including 3 checks, were raised in randomized block design with three replications, to determine the inter-relationships among yield components and their direct and indirect contributions towards seed yield. The genotypic correlation coefficients were higher in magnitude than phenotypic correlation coefficients which revealed a strong inherent association between various characters under study and the phenotypic expression of correlations was lessened under the influence of environment.

Gender Empowerment has been a highly focused area over three decades to empower women so that they can be made free from the mettle of exploitation, deprivation, and social impoverishment. The study was conducted in Haringhata Block under Nadia district of West Bengal. Both purposive as well as simple random sampling was adopted for selection of 100 respondents in five mouzas of the selected block. The present study envisages two components viz. livelihood and income generation as to have conceptual and operational contribution in empowering women adequately and workably.

The study uses autoregressive fractionally integrated moving average – fractionally integrated generalized autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity (ARFIMA-FIGARCH) models and chaos effects to determine nonlinearity properties present on currency ETN returns. The results find that the volatilities of currency ETNs have long-memory, non-stationarity and non-invertibility properties. These findings make the research conclude that mean reversion is a possibility and that the efficient market hypothesis of Fama (1970) became ungrounded on these investment instruments.

A long-term field experiment was carried out in alluvial soil with conservation agriculture practices like Zero tillage, Permanent bed and Conventional tillage to see the impact on vertical distribution of DTPA-Zn and Organic carbon of soil under rice based cropping systems. After completion of 5th cycle of experiment (2016), soil samples were collected from each plot and analysis processes were executed. The results were revealed that vertical distribution of DTPA-Zn and Organic carbon content, decreased with increases of soil depth. Maximum DTPA-Zn (2.

Quantitative structure-activity relationship and molecular docking studies were carried out on a series of quinazolinonyl analogues as anticonvulsant inhibitors. Density Functional Theory (DFT) quantum chemical calculation method was used to find the optimized geometry of the anticonvulsants inhibitors. Four types of molecular descriptors were used to derive a quantitative relation between anticonvulsant activity and structural properties. The relevant molecular descriptors were selected by Genetic Function Algorithm (GFA).

Classic galactosemia is caused by deficiency of galactose-1-phosphate uridylyltransferase (GALT). It causes serious morbidity and mortality if left untreated. Screening for galactosemia is not included in Egyptian neonatal screening program. The study aimed to define clinical presentation and complications of galactosemia at Pediatric Hepatology Clinic, Cairo University, Egypt. Thus, the clinical presentation, course and outcome of 37 children with documented galactosemia was studied. Jaundice was the main presentation (67.6%). Other presentations included; convulsions (29.

Efficient ethanol plants can convert 90-97 percent of the corn’s starch content to ethanol. However, not all batches of corn leave the same amount of starch residue. Studies of ethanol yields from different batches show significant variability (Dien et al., March 2002). Even though it is the starch that is turned into ethanol, researchers have been unable to find a correlation between starch content (or even starch extractability) and the final yield of ethanol (Singh and Graeber). Researchers believe some starches are in a more available form (Dien et al., March 2002).
