Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis is a rare neurological disorder that is caused by the production of antibodies against NMDARs. As many anaesthetic drugs interact with NMDARs and may worsen the disease and because the disease poses risks, such as cardiovascular events, hyperthermia and respiratory insufficiency, while under anaesthesia, administering anaesthesia to patients with this disorder is clinically challenging.

“Neurologist's contribution to the diagnosis of sine materia respiratory insufficiency: Case report”
Right-to-left shunt (RLS) may be the cause of marked hypoxemia, a respiratory insufficiency which is usually difficult to diagnose by respiratory physicians as it develops in the absence of an intrinsic lung disease.

The Severe Respiratory Insufficiency (SRI) questionnaire is a specific measure of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in patients treated with long-term mechanical ventilation (LTMV). The aim of the present study was to examine whether SRI sum scores and related subscales are associated with mortality in LTMV patients.

Identifying the predictors of noninvasive ventilation (NIV) failure has attracted significant interest because of the strong link between failure and poor outcomes. However, very little attention has been paid to the timing of the failure.

The aim was to measure flagellin concentrations in the expectorations of CF patients and to examine whether there are correlations with the level of respiratory insufficiency and inflammation. Methods: Sputum samples from 31 adult patients chronically colonized with P. aeruginosa were collected and analysed for their content of flagellin and IL-8. Clinical data were extracted from patient files.

Exposure to toner, a substance used in photocopiers and printers, has been associated with siderosilicosis and other adverse effects. However, these findings are limited, and there is insufficient evidence on the long-term effects of toner exposure. Using longitudinal analysis, this study aimed to examine the effects of work involving toner exposure on the respiratory system over time.

The tracheobronchomalacia is a life-threatening complication of mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) without known effective, optimal treatment. The severe expiratory collapse of the trachea and bronchi is one of causes of the high rate of deaths in the course of airway impairment in MPSII patients.

The FOLFOX regimen, i.e., folinic acid (FOL), fluorouracil (F) and oxaliplatin (OX), is a drug cocktail that is used to treat gastric and colorectal cancers. Despite the concomitant improvements in response rate, duration of response and patient survival, reports of serious toxic pulmonary side effects have progressively emerged.

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are second most common medical problem of humans after respiratory tract infection. They are often recurrent, difficult to treat, and can cause parenchymal damage to the kidney, leading to renal insufficiency and further complications. The aim is to study increasing rates of antimicrobial resistant Escherichia coli (E. coli) among patients admitted with urinary tract infections. The details of E.

The behavior of bioaerosol particles with various size and shape in the human respiratory tract was simulated by using a probabilistic model of the lung and an almost realistic mathematical approach to particle deposition. Results obtained from the theoretical computations clearly show that biogenic particle deposition in different lung compartments does not only depend on physical particle properties, but also on breathing mode (nose or mouth breathing) and inhalative flow rate (=tidal volume • breathing frequency/30).

However, few reliable studies have been undertaken to assess the effectiveness of these interventions in the field. Current evidence is insufficient for drawing conclusions about which interventions work in a specific setting, and for making recommendations to local and national policy-makers. Therefore, there is an urgent need to evaluate intervention projects and programmes around the world.

In tuberculosis (Tb), the great inflammatory component causes major injuries that trigger fibroblastic reaction, fibrosis and chest wall retraction, compromising pulmonary expansion, which translates into a clinically and functionally moderate restrictive pattern and dyspnea during exercise. This favors lung disability, causing economic and social dependence upon the nuclear family.

Sedation is the important factor in comfort of brain trauma patients. Insuffient sedation causes hypertension, tachycardia, hypoxia, hypercapnia and uncomfortable with ventilator. On the other hand excess sedation causes hypotansion, bradycardia, coma, respiratory depresion, ileus, renal insufficiency, veinous stasis and immunosupression. For the patients in the critical care unit firstly nonpharmacological method should be experinced for sedation. The patients should be frequently oriented.
