The weld-induced martensitic transformation suppressed tension or promoted compression in the EB weld and heat affected zone (HAZ). A steep gradient of residual stress exists, with high tensile stress concentrated in a narrow region immediately outside the HAZ.

The hypothalamus plays a key role in the stress response. While early life stress (ELS) increases susceptibility to psychiatric disorders including major depressive disorder (MDD), acute stress during adulthood can also precipitate MDD after ELS.

Pipe stress analysis calculates the stress in a piping system subject to normal operating loads such as pressure, weight, and thermal expansion, and occasional loads such as wind, earthquake, and water hammer. Because all piping systems are connected to equipment such as vessels, tanks, pumps, turbines, and compressors, the piping stress analysis also involves evaluation of the effect of the piping forces and moments to the connecting equipment. As the piping stress is controlled by the arrangement of the supports and restraints, the scope of piping stress includes also pipe supports.

Source: Modified from RR Kempainen, DD Brunette: Resp. Care 49:192, 2004.Physical examination findings can also be altered by hypothermia. For instance, the assumption that areflexia is solely attributable to hypothermia can obscure and delay the diagnosis of a spinal cord lesion. Patients with hypothermia may be confused or combative; these symptoms abate more rapidly with rewarming than with the use of restraints.
