Seeing to the importance as a major pulse crop a research study was carried out on sample farms to work out the costs and profitability of urdbean. A multi-stage random sampling technique was adopted for data collection; the study was conducted in Lailunga block of Raigarh district (C.G.), sample of 3 villages of this block was selected randomly.   • A field experiment was carried out at Agricultural Research Station, Kota, Rajasthan during rainy (Kharif) season of 2016 and 2017, to evaluate bio efficacy of bentazone against major weeds of rice grown in direct seeded condition of south eastern Rajasthan. Treatments included post emergence application of bentazone @ 0.6 to 1.6 kg a.i/ha, 2,4 D@ 0.38 kga.i/ha, hand weeding twice (20 and 40 DAS) and weedy check, was laid out in randomized block design with three replications. Farmers of the Nacharam (V), Khammam (D), Telangana state are generally keeping the land fallow after harvesting kharif paddy due to water scarcity resulting in no income during rabi. As an alternative to the paddy-fallow system, farmers of the Nacharam (V), Khammam (D), Telangana state were educated by the scientists of KVK, Wyra under “National Innovations in Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA)” project to grow sunhemp as a relay crop after kharif paddy i.e., paddy-sunhemp system.

  • The present article analyses the nature of crop diversification in terms of the changes in cropping pattern with respect to acreage and production distribution. From both the aspects of area and production it is observed that over the time span of three decades the cropping pattern in West Bengal is increasingly dominated by boro paddy, oilseeds (including, rapeseed and mustard) and potato. Pulses, as a whole, have lost both in terms of acreage and production in West Bengal.

  • Evaluation of different chickpea sowing technologies under paddy residue conditions was conducted in a harvested paddy field. Field of paddy was harvested with combine. Chickpea variety (JG-130) was sown with different farm machines in four treatments viz., T1: Happy seeder, T2: Zero till seed cum fertilizer drill, T3: Conventional seed cum fertilizer drill and T4: Raised bed seed cum fertilizer drill in harvested R-1 variety of paddy fields. In T1, all the paddy straw was remained in the field itself and spreaded uniformly.
