Postharvest rots of papaya reduce quality as well as quantity of papaya (Carica papaya L.). Due to firm texture, various microorganisms attack the fruit during ripening stages and cause losses. During the present investigation, effect of various weather factors on the progress of different rots was studied during the year 2019-20.

A study was conducted to determine the mycoflora associated with pigeon pea cultivar MA6 and effect of botanicals on growth of mycoflora. The dominant fungi observed on pigeon pea cultivar MA6 seed were Rhizopus stolonifer, Aspergillus niger, A. flavus, Penicillium citrinum, P. rubrum, Alternaria alternata, A. solani, Curvularia lunata, Fusarium oxysporium. Among the treatments, the sulphate and nitrate treated seeds showed the less number of fungi isolated in comparison to untreated seeds. The nature of fungal flora had changed with prolongation of storage period of pigeonpea seeds.

Microorganisms play important roles in the recycling of agricultural wastes. Composting is the degradation of organic materials through the activities of diverse microorganisms. The compost generated by bioconversion of agro-residues offers several benefits such as enhanced soil fertility and soil health which can lead to increased agricultural productivity, improved soil biodiversity, reduced ecological risks and a healthier environment. This investigation examined the microbial community dynamics, loads and identification of microbiota at various stages of composting process.

This study focused its investigation on the use of the essential oil of a culinary and medicinal plant commonly used in Cameroon, Curcuma longa also called red ginger for the protection of white yam (Discorea rotoundata) during storage. The oil was obtained by hydro distillation using Clevenger apparatus with a yield of 0.26%, the chemical composition analysis revealed a predominance of oxygenated sesquiterpens (OST 63.43%) with as major compound α-bisabolol (42.87%), E-β-santalol (15.3%), β-cymene (8.22%).
