Crinum latifolium and C. asiaticum are the two species of genus Crinum, Amaryllidaceae family and they have highly medicinal values. Distinction between two species is challenging due to many similar morphological characteristics. In this study, we used molecular makers to distinguish the two species Crinum latifolium and C. asiaticum.

In this study, a new species, P. nana, from northeast Chongqing in the north of the Yangtze River is described and illustrated. Bayesian inference and maximum likelihood analyses based on two nuclear ribosomal DNA regions (ITS and ETS) and three plastid DNA markers (rpl32-trnL, rps16, and trnL-trnF) were carried out to explore the phylogenetic position of the new species within Paraphlomis.

Exploring the phylogenetic relationships between taxa provides important information for science. The phylogenetic study of Macrosolen was conducted based on molecular data sets of 27 taxa with five DNA regions including chloroplast rbcL, matK, and trnL-F and nuclear ribosomal (small subunit rDNA and large subunit rDNA) regions to reconstruct the phylogenetic relationship of Macrosolen.

Ribosomal RNA (rRNA) accounts for the majority of the RNA in eukaryotic cells, and is encoded by hundreds to thousands of nearly identical gene copies, only a subset of which are active at any given time. In Arabidopsis thaliana, 45S rRNA genes are found in two large ribosomal DNA (rDNA) clusters and little is known about the contribution of each to the overall transcription pattern in the species.

With the aim of clarifying the number of Tulostoma species in Macedonia, and to verify some previous collections, molecular analyses were carried out on four morphologically identified species collected in different habitats (at the edges of oak or juniper forests, pine plantations, meadows, rocky places, roadsides). Sixty-two new sequences were generated and compared with recently published sequences included in public databases. According to the barcoding sequences fourteen Tulostoma species are identified in Macedonia and ten of them were assigned to known species: Tulostoma brumale, T.

A new species in the genus Russula from the mixed coniferous forest of District Shangla, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan is described and illustrated. Phylogenetic data derived from DNA sequences of nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS), along with morphological characterizations, indicate the species is novel. Russula shanglaensis sp. nov. is distinct from other known species in subsect. Virescentinae.

The genus Sechium includes 11 species, which are highly related to the genus Sicyos. Sechium is native to Mesoamerica, but only S. edule and S. tacaco have been domesticated. Sechium edule is the most exploited species of the genus due to its broad phenotypic variability. A total of 68 samples from the species S. chinantlense, S. compositum, S. hintonii and S. edule were evaluated, as well as their respective varietal complexes (albus, nigrum and virens groups), thereby amplifying the loci of mitochondrial DNA (CoxIII), chloroplast DNA (rbcL) and the nuclear ribosomal ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 region.

Exploration of large data sets, such as shotgun metagenomic sequence or expression data, by biomedical experts and medical professionals remains as a major bottleneck in the scientific discovery process. Although tools for this purpose exist for 16S ribosomal RNA sequencing analysis, there is a growing but still insufficient number of user-friendly interactive visualization workflows for easy data exploration and figure generation. The development of such platforms for this purpose is necessary to accelerate and streamline microbiome laboratory research.

The temperature downshift results in (1) decrease in membrane fluidity (2) changes in nucleic acid structures (3) reduced ribosome function (4) inefficient protein folding. Bacteria respond to this low temperature change by producing cold-shock proteins (CSPs) that bind to single-stranded RNA and DNA thereby, maintaining cell physiology. CSPs have been widely studied in Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis. Here we discuss the cold adaptation by desaturase system, RNA chaperone, and transcription antitermination function of CspA homologues.

Key aspects of microbiome research are the accurate identification of taxa and the profiling of their functionality. Amplicon profiling based on the 16S ribosomal DNA sequence is a ubiquitous technique to identify and profile the abundance of the various taxa. However, it does not provide information on their encoded functionality.

There is a body of evidence that shows a link between tumorigenesis and ribosome biogenesis. The precursor of mature 18S, 28S and 5.8S ribosomal RNAs is transcribed from the ribosomal DNA gene (rDNA), which exists as 300–400 copies in the human diploid genome.

A non-diffusable yellow pigmented isolate (Y_01) was isolated from a week-long enrichment of fecal sample of Indian rock python in cholesterol minimal medium. Basic biochemical characterization followed by 16S ribosomal DNA sequencing and Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization method led to identification of the isolate as Micrococcus luteus. Nutrient broth (pH 7.4) supplemented with 2.5% NaCl was used as the growth medium with incubating conditions of 37˚C for 24 hours as ideal scenario.
