Hence, Proper nutrient management is an important factor to be considered for sustaining pulse productivity. Among them foliar application of major nutrients like urea, DAP, KCl and Use of growth regulators are the potent force in improving the growth, flower initiation, pod setting, seed quality and yield of pulses.

In India, monocropping is a major drawback. This is also a holding back situation for low yielding states like Assam where monocropping accounts for approximately 46% of total cultivated rice area. This rice fallow can effectively and efficiently be utilized for increasing farm income through utera cropping. In order to find the thrust area of linseed under rice utera condition, a study was conducted in large blocks in a participatory mode in farmers’ field of Nagaon district of Assam in the year 2016-17 and 2017-18 with 103 numbers of demonstrations in 40 ha of land.

A field experiment was conducted at Agricultural Research Station, Utukur, Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, India, during rabi seasons of 2016 and 2017 to test the efficacy of rhizobium inoculation along with fertilizers in popular varieties of groundnut dharani and K-6. The results indicated that, the two test varieties were equally performed regarding number of branches, pods per plant and pod yield in both the years. Different fertilizer levels of 100 and 125% RDF with or without rhizobium did not significantly influence the plant height, number of pods per plant and pod yield.

A field experiment was carried out at Agricultural College Farm, Naira, Andhra Pradesh during rabi 2017-18 on sandy loam soils to study the nutrient uptake and grain yield of foxtail millet varieties as influenced by varied levels of nitrogen in rice fallows. The results revealed that nitrogen uptake was highest with the variety SiA 3156 with elevated drymatter production and grain yield at 80 kg N ha-1 and found significantly superior over rest of the varieties and nitrogen levels.

The present investigation was carried out to identify maize hybrids suitable under rice fallow situation since rice fallow maize is gaining more popularity among the farming community in recent years. The results obtained in the present investigation are quite encouraging as the hybrids excelled in their performance under rice fallow condition and may offer a vast scope for breeders to work on the genetic studies under such situation.

Studies on thirty six blackgram genotypes for the association and path analysis, revealed that, the genotypic correlations were in general higher than the phenotypic correlations and thus suggested that the observed relationships among the characters were due to genetic causes. The traits, number of clusters per plant, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod and 100 seed weight were found to possess positive significant association in desirable direction with grain yield per plant either at both genotypic and phenotypic levels.

An investigation was carried out with thirty six blackgram genotypes in rice fallow situation, to assess the variability, heritability and genetic advance for yield and yield attributing characters. The results revealed that high PCV and GCV for number of clusters per plant and high PCV coupled with moderate GCV for number of branches per plant and grain yield per plant exhibiting wider range of variability. Whereas, number of pods per plant and 100 seed weight recorded moderate variability.

About 30% (11.7 mha) of the area under rice production during kharif season in India remain fallow in the subsequent rabi due to number of biotic, abiotic and socioeconomic constrains. . In Bhagalpur district of Bihar approximately 39.89 per cent of the area remains fallow after kharif rice cultivation. The present study was conducted in Bhagalpur district of Bihar with the objective to study the socio-economic conditions of farmers in rice fallow area. Simple random sampling method was used to select village, block and respondents.
