In India, monocropping is a major drawback. This is also a holding back situation for low yielding states like Assam where monocropping accounts for approximately 46% of total cultivated rice area. This rice fallow can effectively and efficiently be utilized for increasing farm income through utera cropping. In order to find the thrust area of linseed under rice utera condition, a study was conducted in large blocks in a participatory mode in farmers’ field of Nagaon district of Assam in the year 2016-17 and 2017-18 with 103 numbers of demonstrations in 40 ha of land.

An investigation had been taken up to assess few rice genotypes for their inclusion in breeding programme to develop varieties suitable for aerobic cultivation. The experiment was carried out at the experimental field of Sarat Chandra Sinha College of Agriculture, Assam Agricultural University, Dhubri. Evaluation of fifteen rice genotypes, comprising ten traditional cultivars and five high yielding varieties both in aerobic and irrigated lowland situations revealed sufficient variability and interaction of the genotypes with the environment.

A field experiment was carried out at the Instructional-cum-Research (ICR) Farm, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat during 2017 to develop the irrigation schedule of direct seeded early ahu rice under medium land situation and to find out the suitable nutrient management practices for direct seeded early ahu rice to suit the variability in rainfall pattern.
