Understanding the process of soil organic carbon (SOC) sequestration and mineralization in aggregates is pertinent to mitigate climate change and minimize risks of soil degradation. The NT system increased the proportion of >2 mm aggregate fraction and reduced the proportion of 0.25 mm macro-aggregate fraction also significantly increased in the 0.00-0.5 m layer in NT system. However, those within the 2.00-0.25 mm aggregate fraction were significantly reduced in the 0.05-0.200 m layer under NT system.

A field experiment was conducted in Vertisols at Instructional cum Research Farm, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya. Raipur (Chhattisgarh) to study the performance of rice straw management and nitrogen scheduling on yield and growth parameters of summer rice in Chhattisgarh plain. Results indicated that incorporation of rice straw 5 t ha-1 by MB plough once + disc harrowing twice fb irrigation at 30 DBT (T3) registered significantly highest grain and straw yields but it was at par to incorporation of rice straw 5 t ha-1 by + disc harrowing twice fb irrigation at 30 DBT (T2).

The field experiment entitled Effect of different nitrogen levels and rice straw incorporation on growth and Productivity of Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) in south-west Punjab was conducted during the rabi season of 2017-18 at Research Farm of Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda (Punjab). The trail was laid out in split plot design with four nitrogen levels viz., 0 kg N/ha (N0), 40 kg N/ha (N1), 60 kg N/ha (N2) and 80 kg N/ha (N3) in main plot and two levels of rice straw incorporation viz., Control (S0) and 10 tonnes/ha (S1) in sub plot.

The utilization of black liquor, produced by the pulp and paper industry in Egypt, as a workability aid and set retarder admixture has been investigated. This approach may help eliminate the environmentally polluting black liquor waste. It also provides a low cost by-product, which can be widely used in the construction industry. The properties of black liquor and its performance on concrete at two different ratios of water to cement have been studied. The results revealed that black liquor from rice straw pulp increases concrete workability, improves compaction, and reduces honeycombing.
