In porous aquifers, the central-to-sea cross-section highlights meteoric water dominance from rain and surface sources. Groundwater undergoes exchange-absorption with silicate minerals, enriching Ca2+ and Mg2+ (reducing Na+). Seaward, dissolution and leaching of salts in marine-origin sediments (mQ2, mQ13, mQ12-3, and mN22) prevail. The results of this paper provide necessary information for the effective management of groundwater quality.

Seawater injection into chalk-reservoirs on the Norwegian Continental Shelf has increased the oil recovery and reduced seabed subsidence, but not eliminated it. Therefore, understanding rock–fluid interactions is paramount to optimize water injection, predict and control water-induced compaction.

Kestanbol geothermal field is located in northwestern Turkey and is one of the highest temperature geothermal fields in the Biga Peninsula. In this study, one geothermal well, two geothermal springs, and two cold springs were monitored for one year in Kestanbol geothermal field to determine hydrogeochemical and isotopic characteristics. Additionally, any possible relationship between seismic activity and variations in the hydrochemistry of geothermal water was investigated.

To improve the utilization rate of hot dry rock resources, it is necessary to recover the energy of geothermal tailwater and improve the net output work. An improved ammonia-water power cycle is proposed based on the Kalina cycle. Taking the geothermal parameters of the Husavik Power Plant in Iceland as the prototype (the water temperature of the geothermal well is 122°C, and the tailwater temperature is 80°C), the numerical simulation of the modified Kalina cycle is carried out by using Engineering Equation Solver software.

The trace element (TE) content of oils is known to have a polygenetic character and to be inherited from an organic matter, surrounding rocks and from formation waters. The presence of some TEs indicates the involvement of the deep source, at least from the Lower Crust. However, these conclusions have a qualitative character. We present the results of the correlation analysis of TE content of oils with the chemical compositions of the Upper, Middle, and Lower Crust, with different types of organic matter, clays, and causetobiolites.

The salinity is mainly due to the presence of saline ground water at shallow depths and frequent flooding and sea water intrusion in low-lying areas. The intrusion of seawater into aquifers can occur directly, but also occurs a number of complex geochemical processes such as mixing between aquifers, mobilization of salt water, water-rock interactions and anthropogenic pollution.

This paper reviews the mechanisms of oil release and the use of microbes and their metabolic products to enhance oil recovery. Alteration of oil/rock/water interfacial tensions properties and changes in flow behaviour assist the enhancement of oil recovery. Oil recovery can be improved by injecting gases and solvents or by stimulating their production by reservoir microflora in situ for reservoir repressurization and carbonate rock dissolution.

Therefore, it is essential to find ways and means to increase the efficiency of phosphate rock either by using it alone or as a mixture of phosphate rock and water soluble P fertilizer. A field experiment was conducted during rabi seasons of 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16 study the effect of various sources of phosphorus on yield, nutrient uptake and economics of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L) under acid Alfisols of Odisha.

Estimating water saturation is one of the main challenging aspects in reservoir characterisation. Good estimation of this parameter enables us to calculate reserve accurately. Hence, it is of great importance to estimate precisely water saturation based on hydraulic flow units of reservoir rocks. In this paper, a modified J-function was used and developed to determine the water saturation in the hydrocarbon reservoirs located in field A, Cuu Long basin.

It is the third largest meteorite crater in basaltic rock in the world, with a diameter of 1,800 m. While Lake Bosmatvi in Ghana, has a diameter of 10,000 m and lake New Quebec in Canada with a diameter of 3,500 m.

Thematic maps present information relating to spatial variations in the distribution of specific geographical features at a regional scale or across the entire basin. The spatial distribution of thematic maps aids in decision-making of management of resources. Different thematic maps generated for the Kinnerasani basin include watershed boundary, drainage network, slope map, landuse/landcover map and soil map with the help of Survey of India topographical map and Cartosat DEM. LULC map was developed using IRS P6 LISS III satellite data.

Among the crop residues used for preparation of compost, wheat straw (WS) + urea (1.5 - 4.5 per cent) + rock phosphate (RP) (6 - 12 per cent) + Sulphur (S) (1 to 3% through gypsum) and shredded cotton stalk (SCS) + urea (1.5 - 4.5%) + RP (6 – 12%) + S (1 to 3% through gypsum) were found equally beneficial in improving the quality of compost. The pH of compost rises initially and further drop at the maturity of compost.

Groundwater is a dynamic and replenishable natural resource, but in hard rock terrains, availability of groundwater is of limited extent and is depleting in many areas due to its large scale withdrawal for various sectors. Groundwater recharge such as rainwater harvesting is essential in order to improve ground water level and quality. The main objective of the study is to identify suitable sites for groundwater recharge in the study area through Geospatial technology. To attain this Remote Sensing Technology is the good tool in mapping such geological features related to groundwater recharge.
