Infectious bronchitis virus (IBV), a coronavirus, is one of the most important poultry pathogens worldwide due to its multiple serotypes and poor cross-protection. Vaccination plays a vital role in controlling the disease. The efficacy of vaccination in chicken flocks can be evaluated by detecting neutralizing antibodies with the neutralization test. However there are no simple and rapid methods for detecting the neutralizing antibodies.

This study was undertaken to evaluate the utility of serum C-reactive protein in the diagnosis of bacterial sinusitis and its role in reduction of antibiotic use in case of viral sinusitis. A total of 100 blood samples were collected from patients with clinical diagnosis of acute rhino sinusitis in the age group 15-65 years attending Outpatient Department of E.N.T. Semi quantitative determination of serum C –reactive protein was done by latex agglutination method (Span diagnostics) as per the manufacturer’s instructions.

The usefulness of Rapid test and ELISA in the diagnosis of HCV in haemodialysis patients was analysed. In this study, Immuno Chromatography Test [ICT] rapid test was compared with ELISA for the effective detection of anti-HCV antibodies in patients on haemodialysis. A total of 106 blood samples, from chronic renal disease patients on haemodialysis were taken from the Department of Nephrology, Government Medical College Hospital, for a period of six months from July to December 2011. Sera were tested for anti HCV antibodies by rapid ICT and further tested by third generation ELISA.

Neonatal sepsis is a clinical syndrome of bacteremia characterized by systemic signs and symptoms of infection in the first month of life. It has been a challenge with its high incidence and grave prognosis, despite adequate treatment with modern antibiotics. The signs and symptoms are protean with a high mortality and thus there is urgent need to know whether the baby has sepsis. Confirmation of the diagnosis by definitive culture is not rapidly possible.

The ex-post-facto research design was used for the study with 384 stakeholders. e-SAP is an important ICT flat form, which facilitates the access of relevant, technical feasible, economically affordable with socially acceptable information to the decision making system of various stakeholders in agriculture field. e-SAP refers to electronic solutions against agriculture pest.

The highly infectious nature of tuberculosis (TB) urges the need to increase the efficiency and rapidity of lab methods. The coexistence of TB and cancer was investigated using Mycobacterium tuberculosis direct test (MTD) and the mycobacteria growth indicator tube (MGIT), besides the conventional lab procedures. All assays were performed on 101 patients clinically suspected of having a mycobacterial infection.
