Tensegrity is a structural system constructed of tensile cables and compressive bars. This thesis proposes several general methods for creating tensegrity structures. The author has developed new methods for creating specific tensegrity cells and the corresponding computer code. Furthermore, the author has constructed various physical models to validate the methods. A proposal for an observation tower on top of the Eureka building in Melbourne has also been devised by the author.

The aim of this thesis is investigate and design a small antenna which can be embedded onto a Polyethylene substrate (used for making roof tiles). The antenna can be used to harvest ambient energy by connecting it to a rectifier. Due to the dimensional constraints of a roof tile as well as the materials used, there are limitations imposed on the antenna size, and thus the radiation efficiency and bandwidth often become a limiting factor in the overall performance of the system.

The biological experiment was carried out with Three hundred commercial sexed, one day-old, broiler chicks that were randomly grouped into six treatments with five replicates for each treatment and containing ten chicks per replicate. The chicks were reared from day-old to thirty five days of age in deep litter system in a gable roofed, open sided poultry house. One of the easiest and efficient way of water conservation to solve drinking water scarcity is rooftop water harvesting. However, the technology has some limitations with regard to its purification system. The commonly used sand and gravel filter is very prone to clogging and its cleaning is not an easy job. At the same time, the alternative upward flow mesh filter needs further improvement in cleaning efficiency and some hassle free drain cum back washing mechanism. In upward flow mesh filter system, which creates anaerobic condition will give foul smell.

One of the easiest and efficient way of water conservation to solve drinking water scarcity is rooftop water harvesting. To evaluate the performance of the first flush with micromesh filter system, inflow and outflow of the rooftop water samples were analysed for pH, EC, TDS, SAL and TSS parameters. In general, the PH, electrical conductivity, and TDS of the roof water samples were within the drinking water standards and the first flush with micromesh filter system was found to reduce TDS values.

The aim of this study is to apply an automated identification and quantification system with a GC-MS database (AIQS-DB) for simultaneous analysis of phthalate esters (PAEs) and sterols in air particles. A study was conducted to evaluate the existing housing and feeding management practices followed by the dairy animal keepers in U.S. Nagar district of Uttarakhand. It was observed that majority of farmers housed their animal in pucca house 73.89%, whereas 26.11% had kaccha houses for their animals. 81.67% farmers were following group system of animal housing. The study was carried out to assess the status of Mycoplasmosis in goats by serology, of Mycoplasma spp. from suspected and apparently normal goats and to assess the epidemiological risk factors associated with Mycoplasmosis and economic impact of Mycoplasmosis in organised and unorganised goat farms present in North West Agroclimatic zone of Tamil nadu. Seroprevalence of Mycoplasmosis was assessed by employing slide agglutination test and iELISA. A total of 336 serum samples were collected from organised (122) and unorganised (244) goat farms.

The purpose of this study was to investigate canal configuration of mandibular first premolars in an Egyptian population. Two hundred fifty human extracted mandibular first premolars were collected from Egyptian patients and a small hole in the center of the occlusal surface of each tooth was made perforating the roof of the pulp chamber. Teeth were decalcified by immersing in nitric acid and dehydrated in ascending concentrations of ethyl alcohol.

The results showthat considering the TSMD systemon the fifth floor leads to the most reduction in displacement and velocity, not only for the roof, but also for the other floors as well. For the system under study, comparing with the noncontrolled system, a reduction of about 31% on maximumdisplacement and 42% on maximum velocity of the top floor are obtained.
