Root growth success of cuttings

Pomegranate is commercially propagated by cuttings. Use of optimum concentration of IBA, type of cutting and optimum rooting media would help in rapid multiplication of pomegranate cuttings. The success percent of pomegranate cuttings depends on many factors such as conditions of the mother plant, rainfall, time of operation, temperature fluctuation, aftercare etc.

The propagation of rooted pepper plants and grafted pepper plants were produced by using orthotropic vine and plagiotropic branch of Paniyur-1 pepper plants, during the period 2015 to 2018 at Agricultural and Horticultural Research Station, Ullal. The one batch of cuttings of orthotropic pepper vine and plagiotropic branches were rooted in 4‟X6‟ poly bags and another batch of cuttings of orthotropic pepper vine and plagiotropic branches were grafted over on the Pepper colubrinum root stock for the study under 50 per cent shade house condition.

Papaya is one of the few important fruits which flowers and yield throughout the year. Though a polygamous species with three basic types viz., staminate, pistillate and bisexual, its cultivation with seed propagation is hindered by problems due to vide variability in sex expression and fruit characters. In such point of view, propagation through asexual method could be a better alternative. “Acacia hybrids” refers to the inter-specific hybrids of A. mangium and A. auriculiformis, including natural, artificial and polyploid ones. The superiorities of selected acacia hybrid are fast growth, straight stem form, small branches, high productivity, and high ratio of wood utilisation. Acacia hybrids are recognized as having a higher pulping potential and greater soil improvement ability than that of the parental species, which may be shown to have 2.5-13 times larger numbers of nitrogen - fixing nodules on its roots in nursery stage.
