Root pruning

The practice continues in the Himalayan regions of the sub-continent. Elms grow fast and regenerate rapidly by seed, are resistant to pruning and root damage and adapt exceptionally well to unfavorable environmental conditions prevalent in the region. However, little information is available on the nutrient composition and nutritive value of Elm leaves as animal feed in the temperate regions of the country particularly in Kashmir.

Propagation of the fig tree predominately uses hardwood cuttings obtained from pruning stock plants. With a view to optimizing fig tree propagation, the effects of different growing conditions on the rooting of hardwood cuttings from the five varieties of fig were evaluated. An experiment was set up in a two factorial design, with two growing conditions (Open and Shade house) and different varieties (Poona, Deanna, Bellary, Dinakar, Conadria), 90days after starting the experiment, rooting, root length, survival percentage were all evaluated.

The aim of the study was to determine the influence of root pruning on the above and below ground vegetative growth of poplar (Populus deltoides) clones viz., S7C15 and Uday in 2012-13 at College of Forestry, SHUATS, Allahabad (U.P). The experiment involved a factorial randomized block design which had five treatments(P1 – Control (un-pruned roots), P2- root pruned at 5 cm, P3- root pruned at 10 cm, P4- root pruned at 15 cm and P5 - root pruned at 20 cm) with three replications and each treatment consisted of 10 plants.

Tree establishment and success stories of transplanting depends on various sequence of event viz., tree size, type of root system, shoot and root pruning methods, health of the tree, distance of transportation, season of transplanting, soil and local weather condition at both sides, pre and post transplantation care of the tree, long period of observation and risk management. In this article clearly addressed the clinical methodology for tree transplanting and its impact on the society.

A Field trial was carried out at Horticulture Farm of Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur, to assess the effect of pruning, Gibberellic acid and methods of application on growth and yield components were carried out on onion. Out of 19 treatment combinations comprised of three level of pruning, six levels of GA at different concentration and its methods of application viz., pruning (leaf pruning, root pruning, leaf and root pruning), GA (50, 100, 150 ppm and method viz., root dip, foliar spray).

India is major fruit producing country in the world after china. India have rich fruit diversity in tropical, subtropical and temperate regions. Some of the fruits like Guava, pomegranate, lemon, acid lime, mandarin etc., give various flowering flushes throughout the year if left without any treatment.
