The growth of plant is reaction between interplay of roots and shoots with the environment. Planting media i.e. soil supply support to plants and growth to microorganisms. The interactions between roots and microbes is beneficial and if enhanced then results in increased plant growth and yield. Plant growth promoting rhizobacteria are certain aggressive root colonizing bacteria that benefits plants.

The plant-microbe interaction effect of these bacteria, either singly or in combination, on growth and development of maize (Malviya Hybrid Maize 2) were also studied. The results reveal that the combination of BHU8 with RRE3 proved to be most beneficial and efficient with regards to many of the growth parameters like shoot and root length, number of leaves, shoot and root fresh weight, shoot, root dry weight and chlorophyll content.

An experiment was carried out to study the interaction of root knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita, Paecilomyces lilacinus, Pochonia chlamydosporia, Trichoderma viride, Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas fluorescence on the growth of black gram. This study was done to investigate the role of some bacterial genera as biocontrol agent against Meloidogyne incognita. Paecilomyces lilacinus significantly increased the growth parameters of the black gram viz.

An investigation had been taken up to assess few rice genotypes for their inclusion in breeding programme to develop varieties suitable for aerobic cultivation. The experiment was carried out at the experimental field of Sarat Chandra Sinha College of Agriculture, Assam Agricultural University, Dhubri. Evaluation of fifteen rice genotypes, comprising ten traditional cultivars and five high yielding varieties both in aerobic and irrigated lowland situations revealed sufficient variability and interaction of the genotypes with the environment.

An experiment was conducted with a view to find out the best grafting height and scion length and the reciprocal influence of the rootstock and scion on grafted citrus cultivar Nagpur mandarin at Horticultural Research Farm, Andro, College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University, Imphal during 2014 and 2015. The plant material consisted of Nagpur Mandarin as scion and Rough Lemon seedlings as rootstock. The scion with three lengths (5 cm, 10 cm and 15 cm) were tried at three different heights (10 cm, 15 cm and 20 cm) from the ground level, comprising 9 treatment combinations (3x3).

F2 population obtained from F1 cross between Tulasi (Most tolerant genotype) and CUL8709 (Most susceptible genotype). 300 F2 plants and their parents were screened at 800 ppm of Fe. Phenotyping screening of F2 plants under iron toxic levels indicated presence of wide variability for shoot length, root length, total number of roots, number of fresh roots, shoot weight, root weight and visual scoring for iron-toxicity symptoms. The measures of skewness and kurtosis for various traits revealed a large quantitative variability.

Quercus brantii is an important tree species in Zagros forests. Summer drought imposes severe limitations in Q. brantii forests, making reforestation with this species in general very difficult. This is further complicated by the limited ecophysiological information or this species.
