This research analyzes the factors that affect resilience after natural disasters of 997 households in rural areas of Vietnam in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2016 by using logistic regression. The research results show that factors such as receiving timely warnings related to natural disasters, not taking measures to respond to natural disasters, and putting trust in the community will improve resilience after natural disasters.

Clean water for drinking and cooking has been a serious issue in rural areas of Vietnam, which is mainly due to high-cost treatment of the available water sources in such areas. This paper uses household panel data from rural Vietnam to examine the role of status seeking in the relationship between income inequality and savings. Results show that households living in provinces with higher income inequality are likely to save more to improve their social status, which is consistent with statusseeking hypothesis.
