The aim of this study is to estimate phytochemical constituents and antioxidant activities of tomato slices treated by microwave heating. Two treatments time were applied, 30 and 300 s. Quantitative analyses of phenols, flavonoids, lycopene, followed by the evaluation of the antioxidant activity by DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) and ion chelating methods, were conducted on ethanolic extracts.

The tomato psyllid, Bactericera cockerelli Šulc (Hemiptera: Triozidae), is a pest of solanaceous crops such as tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) in the U.S. and vectors the disease-causing pathogen ‘Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum’. Currently, the only effective strategies for controlling the diseases associated with this pathogen involve regular pesticide applications to manage psyllid population density

Tomato is world’s one of the largest growing vegetable crop and ranks first among processing crops. It’s production suffers with many biotic and abiotic factors. Leaf blight disease caused by different species of Alternaria is one of the most dreadful diseases of tomato, causing huge economic losses. The present study was conducted in order to evaluate the efficacy of different fungicides against Alternaria alternata, one of cause for blight disease of tomato.

“Effect of industrial and distillery effluents on Spodoptera litura” was carried out during 2015-2016 in pot experiment in the experimental farm of Department of Environmental Science, Dr Y. S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan which is located at an altitude of 1273 m amsl and at latitude of 35.5°N, longitude of 77.8°E. The experiment comprised of 4 treatments viz., T1 (75%), T2 (50%), T3 (25%) and T4 (control, pond water). The As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Ni, Pb and Hg content in the 6th instar of Spodoptera litura varied, respectively. Larvae of S.

Domestication and selection of crops have notably reshaped fruit morphology. With its large phenotypic diversity, tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) illustrates this evolutive trend. Genes involved in flower meristem development are known to regulate also fruit morphology.

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L) is one of the major vegetable crops cultivated in India, which plays a major role in supplementing the income of small and marginal farmers of Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh. The front line demonstrations (FLDs) were conducted on farmer’s field in Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh for three consecutive years (2014-15 to 2016-17) at two adopted villages. Prevailing farmer's practices were treated as control for comparison with demonstrated technology.

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) is one of the most important vegetable crops under solanaceous group which can be grown both under open field conditions and greenhouses. Tomato has achieved high popularity especially in the recent years because of lycopene’s anti-oxidative activities and anti-cancerous functions. The cultivated tomato has been used in genetic studies because of the ease with which it can be easily manipulated and also its diversity present within the population.

Bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum (Smith) Yabuuchi is one of the most destructive diseases of tomato (Lycopersicum esculentum), causing accountable losses of about 10-90 per cent. Present investigations on the disease (R. solanacearum) were carried out during 2014-15 to fulfill the objectives defined, at the Department of Plant Pathology, College of Agriculture, VNMKV, Parbhani. A total of 10 organic amendments evaluated (pot culture) as pre- sowing soil applications were found effective against R. solanacearum.
