Sample quality weights

Random-effects (RE) models are commonly applied to account for heterogeneity in effect sizes in gene expression meta-analysis. The degree of heterogeneity may differ due to inconsistencies in sample quality. High heterogeneity can arise in meta-analyses containing poor quality samples.

The analysis of abiotic stress responsiveness in plants is a very crucial way to identify the genes conferring stress tolerance and their use in crop improvement programme. Heat stress is one of the stresses which highly affect the growth, quality character as well as total yield of the crop. In this study, a proteome analysis by 2D electrophoresis was used to identify the characteristic change in two wheat genotypes viz, GW 451 (heat tolerant) and WH 147 (heat susceptible) from flag leaf.

The present investigation was undertaken in the Post – harvest Technology Laboratory of Horticulture Section, RCSM College of Agriculture, Kolhapur during 2017-18 to study effect of storage conditions on shelf life and quality of primary processed leafy vegetables. The treatment combination comprised of three storage conditions such as room temperature (RT), zero energy cool chamber (ZECC) and refrigerated storage (RS) and five different leafy vegetables such as fenugreek, coriander, spinach, pokala and rajgira in FCRD with three replications.

A study was conducted to see the thousand grain weight variation in Green gram stored in different types of bags. Green gram (Vigna radiate) grains were procured from local market, cleaned and graded by two screen cleaner-cum-grader. Storage study was conducted by storing large sized green gram grains in 4 types of bags (jute, plastic, polythene, hermetic) without and with treatment (aluminium phosphide tablets) at 3 different initial moisture contents (12.34, 14.07, 16.04 % w.b.). Total 21 such bags having different treatment combinations were kept in laboratory for 33 weeks.

The present investigation was conducted during rabi 2016-17 to study the effect of sulphur and zinc containing customized fertilizers on yield, quality and nutrient uptake by onion in Inceptisols” at Dr. PDKV, Akola. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with eleven treatments replicated thrice. The soil of experimental site was Inceptisols. The plant samples were collected, analyzed for content and uptake of major and micronutrients.

This paper develops an index of bank stability for 66 commercial banks operating in the Indian banking industry for the period 2007/08-2016/17. An index is obtained by combining five dimensions, namely capital adequacy, asset quality, management efficiency, earning capacity and liquidity. The choice of dimensions is derived from the CAMEL framework as defined by the Reserve Bank of India, which is the modus operandi for measurement of banking stability. The aggregation of dimensions is done using the weights calculated by employing PCA approach.

Although, India is the largest mango producing country in the world and also is the home of more than 1,000 mango cultivars but the productivity of mango in our country is low. Hence improvement work for the development of mango cultivars with higher yield and productivity is the utmost importance. For successful improvement work, proper identification of genetic resources or the parental materials is the basic need. Hence, the aim of study was to identify, characterize and recommend mango cultivars to broaden the varietal spectrum.

We provide several new insights about the value of active management and the economic significance of fund return predictability through an analysis of the optimal portfolios of mutual funds prescribed by our framework at the end of the sample period (December 31, 2002). In particular, consider an investor who completely rules out predictability in fund returns, as well as active management skills. Not surprisingly, this investor heavily weights index funds, such as the Vanguard Total Stock Market Index fund.
