Chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI), a severe manifestation of peripheral arterial disease (PAD), is associated with a 1-year limb amputation rate of approximately 15–20% and substantial mortality. A key feature of CLTI is the compromised regenerative ability of skeletal muscle; however, the mechanisms responsible for this impairment are not yet fully understood.

Growing evidence has shown that unilateral nerve injury results in pain hypersensitivity in the ipsilateral and contralateral sides respective to the injury site. This phenomenon is known as mirror image pain (MIP). Glial cells have been indicated in the mechanism of MIP; however, it is not clear how glial cells are involved in MIP.

Our results indicate that, in addition to previously reported L1 elements, various LTR and DNA transposons, as well as members of the classical satellites including HSAT5 and α-satellites (ALR/Alpha), are expressed at higher levels in late senescence. Moreover, we revealed finer links between the expression levels of repeats with the genes located near them and known to be involved in cell cycle and senescence. Noncoding elements reported here provide a new perspective to be explored in further experimental studies.

Spermatozoa have a remarkable epigenome in line with their degree of specialization, their unique nature and different requirements for successful fertilization. Accordingly, perturbations in the establishment of DNA methylation patterns during male germ cell differentiation have been associated with infertility in several species. While bull semen is widely used in artificial insemination, the literature describing DNA methylation in bull spermatozoa is still scarce.

The role of transcription and growth factors in bovine myogenesis is well-characterized; however, very little is known about the miRNA activity during this process. We have hypothesized that the expression of miRNA can vary between primary cultures of skeletal muscle cells isolated from the semitendinosus muscles of different cattle breeds and subjected to myogenic differentiation.

Skeletal muscle satellite cells (MSC) are crucial for postnatal growth and regeneration of skeletal muscle. An interaction exists between MSC and intramuscular preadipocytes (IMPA). This study is the first to investigate the effects of IMPA on MSC in chickens and unveil the molecular mechanisms by transcriptome analysis.

Korean Hanwoo cattle are known for their high meat quality, especially their high intramuscular fat compared to most other cattle breeds. Different muscles have very different meat quality traits and a study of the myogenic process in satellite cells can help us better understand the genes and pathways that regulate this process and how muscles differentiate.

The battery packs are one of the most vulnerable parts of satellites for damages induced by vibration and shock during launch process. This is due to their considerable weight which increases their susceptibility for structural damage and short connection.

Effects of myostatin (MSTN)-suppression on the regeneration of injured skeletal muscle under unloading condition were investigated by using transgenic mice expressing a dominant-negative form of MSTN (MSTN-DN). Both MSTN-DN and wild-type (WT) mice were subjected to continuous hindlimb suspension (HS) for 6 weeks.

I focus here on a description of the first, 1990 montage, which originates the format, utilizing many of the clips from Precious Images and establishing conventions for subsequent montages. It followed an almost giddy opening speech by Academy president Karl Malden emphasizing the newly global reach of the satellite-assisted Academy Awards telecast (the previous year was the first time it was seen in Russia): “How can you have a closed society when the skies are open from Moscow to Beijing to—you name it—Gary, Indiana?” In that context, Malden introduces Workman’s...

A single solar cell is able to produce only a small amount of electricity. But solar cells can be connected together on a multi-cell panel to produce larger amounts of electricity. As with batteries, the more cells that are connected to one another, the greater the current of electricity that can be produced. 1 Solar panels can produce enough electricity to power satellites, recreational vehicles, and equipment for other applications where electricity is used in large amounts. For this project, you will be using the electricity from solar panels to power a small car.

As the program and concept of family planning grew more accepted, demand grew for other types of contraception, resulting in a pioneering project that used CHWs to deliver Depo Provera injections to their clients in their homes. The community-based distribution program proved so successful, it expanded from its initial three sites to 72 by the mid-1990s. Door-to-door delivery, however, is a costly and time-consuming approach to delivering family planning services. In 1991 Pathfinder’s projects in Bangladesh began to move toward a more sustainable village-based depot approach.

Solar cells are optoelectronic devices that convert the energy of solar radiation directly into electricity by the photovoltaic (PV) effect. Assemblies of cells electrically connected together are known as PV modules, or solar panels. The photovoltaic effect was first recognized in the 19th century but the modern PV cells were developed in the mid-1950s. The practical application of photovoltaics started to provide energy for orbiting satellites.

The ability of certain materials to convert sunlight to electricity was first discovered by Becquerel in 1839, when he discovered the photogalvanic effect. A number of other significant discoveries ultimately paved the way for the fabrication of the first solar cell in 1954 by Chapin, Fuller, and Pearson [1]. This cell had a conversion efficiency of 6%. Within 4 years, solar cells were used on the Vanguard I orbiting satellite. The high cost of boosting a payload into space readily justified the use of these cells, even though they were quite expensive. Space applications eventually led to...
