The Middle Miocene carbonate is the main gas bearing reservoir in the southern part ofthe Song Hong basin. Carbonate reservoirs present challenges for engineers and geologists to characterize because of their complexity due to depositional and diagenetic processes.

In order to better evaluate the applicability of the inverse analysis method for calculation and evaluation of hydraulic properties of unsaturated soil in more realistic conditions, a transient one – step outflow experiment for layered sands was applied in the desaturation process with the purpose to attain the profiles of suction, saturation and flow rate with time. In this study, the fine sand and medium sand were used with the same thickness of 40cm for each layer.

Estimating water saturation is one of the main challenging aspects in reservoir characterisation. Good estimation of this parameter enables us to calculate reserve accurately. Hence, it is of great importance to estimate precisely water saturation based on hydraulic flow units of reservoir rocks. In this paper, a modified J-function was used and developed to determine the water saturation in the hydrocarbon reservoirs located in field A, Cuu Long basin.

Fifteen soil profile samples representing the highlands of Purulia, Birbhum, Bardhaman, Bankura and Medinipur districts in red and lateritic zone of West Bengal were collected from 0-15, 15-30 and 30-45 cm depth under rice-vegetable, rice-mustard and rice-fallow cropping systems with a view to assess the predictability of saturated hydraulic conductivity of the soils as influenced by different physical, hydro-physical and chemical properties of the farmlands.

Present study was undertaken at Hirakud command area of Odisha to investigate the effect of continuous irrigation on soil texture, bulk density and saturated hydraulic conductivity of different soils. Soil samples were collected from 15 spots each at irrigated areas and unirrigated areas in two different depths at 0-15 cm and 15-30 cm with Global Positioning System (GPS). Both loose and core samples from each spots were collected and analysed for different physical properties.

Hydraulic properties of soils play a significant role in development and adoption of suitable water management practices capable of increasing input use efficiency of soils for maintaining agricultural production of arid and semi arid regions. The study was carried out to investigate the hydraulic properties of soils varying in texture, organic carbon and salt contents. The soil samples were collected from 0-15 and 15-30 cm depths at farmers’ field in different villages spread over nine districts of the Haryana state during 2016-17.

Physical and biochemical properties of apple orchard soils of different productivities (orchard A: 30 t∙ha−1; orchard B: 20 t∙ha−1) were analyzed. Most of the physical properties were similar in both orchards. In orchard A, the horizontal saturated hydraulic conductivity at 10-cm depth was 16.42 cm∙day−1, and was about four times higher tha n that in orchard B (4.41 cm∙day−1).
