Rice (Oryza sativa L.)‒wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is the major cropping system in western Indo-Gangetic Plain of India. This system is very exhaustive and there is a need to include a leguminous crop in this system for sustainable agriculture. Field experiments were conducted for two years to explore the possibility of growing cowpea [Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.] and mungbean [Vigna radiata (L.

An experiment was conducted during summer season of 2017 at the college farm, Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari to study the “Production potential of green gram [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek] varieties with different nutrient management under south Gujarat condition”. The soil of the experimental field was clayey in texture having medium to poor drainage, low in available nitrogen and organic carbon, medium in available phosphorus, potassium and sulphur.

A field experiment entitled “Response of rabi sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) on different levels of irrigation, nitrogen and banana pseudostem sap and its residual effect on summer greengram (Vigna radiata L.) under South Gujarat condition” was carried out during rabi season of 2016-17 and 2017-18 at college farm of Soil and Water Management Research Farm, Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari. The soil was clayey in texture, rich in organic carbon, medium in available nitrogen, P2O5 and K2O with alkaline in reaction (pH 7.8).

Field experiment was conducted on dark brown soil of the college farm, N. M. College of Agriculture, Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari during rabi season of 2016-2017 to study the effect of integrated weed management on growth, yield, yield attributes and economics of grain amaranth (Amaranthus hypochondriacus L.) Production potential, higher profit and effective weed control in grain amaranth can be achieved by maintaining weed free through hand weeding throughout crop growth period, where labours are easily available.

College of Agriculture, Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari during rabi season of 2016-2017 to study the effect of integrated weed management on growth parameters, yield, yield attributes and economics of linseed (Linum usitatissimum L.). Production potential, higher profit and effective weed control in linseed can be achieved by maintaining weed free through hand weeding throughout crop growth period, where labours are easily available. In case of labours scarcity, application of pendimethalin 0.

In India, over 370 million tonnes of biomass is generated every year and it contributes to over one third of primary energy (Chauhan, 2010). This biomass can be easily densified in the form of pellets and briquettes. The present study was undertaken to estimate the availability of biomass for major agricultural crops and to work out its energy potential. Based on the area under cultivation and production for the years 2000-01 and 2011-12, ten major agricultural crops of Haryana were selected i.e. rice, jowar, bajra, maize, cotton, sugarcane, wheat, barley, gram, and rapeseed and mustard.

Wild edible plants (WEPs) are the species that are neither cultivated nor domesticated, but available from their natural habitat and used as a source of food. Use of wild edibles is diminishing at fast pace but it is clear that in many parts of the world the use of wild edibles is still prevalent. Consumption of wild edibles is a major source of vitamins and micro-nutrients for people using only vegetarian diets rich in carbohydrates.

Prior to the availability of refrigeration, foods, particularly fish and meat, were preserved by salting, marinating or pickling. Through a decrease in water activity, meat and fish were protected against microbial spoilage and other deteriorative processes. It was the process of treating meat with rock salt that led to modern curing practices (Cassens 1990). Thus, meat curing, historically defined as the addition of salt (sodium chloride) to meat, is now referred to as the intentional addition of nitrite and salt to meat.
