Jiaogulan (Gynostemma pentaphyllum (Thunb.) Makino) is distributed mostly in mountainous areas, in shaded and humid places at 300-3200 meters above sea level. This study was conducted to determine the appropriate application dose of nitrogen for the growth of Jiaogulan under different shading conditions.

This study has established and calibrated a three-dimensional system model with a combination of hydraulics-waves and suspended sediment transport with measured data in the study area. Based on the calculated scenarios for the flood and the dry seasons, the results show the occurrence of MTZs in the riparian zone of the Mekong river with typical suspended sediment concentrations (SSC) ranging from 0.04–1.0 kg/m3 dry season and 0.2–1.1 kg/m3 flood season.

This article introduces a method which could quickly delineate short-circuit fault location by establishing the corresponding matrix between nodes on grid and short circuit current value. A 22kV Daklak distribution grid – E471 line is studied. A big data of input as load, source, season coefficient, utilization coefficient and all four types of short circuit have been considered and calculated in detail.

The study investigated the Phaeophyceae during the year 2019 at sixteen sampling sites representative for Cham islands. Specimens were collected by scuba diving, snorkelling and walking at the upper tidal zone in both dry and rainy seasons. Twenty-five species of the Phaeophyceae identified for Cham islands from four orders, four families and eleven genera.

The species’ growth started from the early rainy season of the previous year until the end of the dry season of the following year. However, the period when the species had a high cover, biomass, and shoot density was from September 2018 to March 2019, and those values peaked in January 2019.

In paper "Fine root vertical-seasonal distribution of Robinia pseudoacacia in relation to abiotic factors in a chronosequence in coastal saline alkali land of the Yellow River Delta, China", FRB, FRL, FRSA, SWC and soil nutrients increased, while SRL and SSC decreased with increasing stand age. Vertically, fine roots were concentrated in a 0–20 cm soil layer. SRL, SWC and SSC increased, while soil nutrients decreased with increasing soil depth.

Four interpolation methods are applied to interpolate shallow groundwater level in Pleiku city, including inverse distance weighted, tension spline, universal kriging, and ordinary kriging. The cross-validation results record that the ordinary kriging is the best interpolation method which is shown by the lowest RMSE value, the highest R2 value.

Median diameters (D50) of suspended particles were inferred in the wet season in the Cam - Nam Trieu estuary (Hai Phong, Vietnam) based on the particle size distribution measured by LISST-100X on five transects along the river from 23 to 26 September 2015. The results showed that floc diameters varied between 3.6 μm to 146.5 μm and averaged 49.14 μm.

Earthworms are present in all types of soil. Changes in land use influence populations of earthworms. However, information on the dynamics of earthworm populations in northern Cameroon is not available. This paper highlights the research carried out on the abundance, biomass, and diversity of earthworm populations throughout four types of land use in northern Cameroon. Earthworms were sampled throughout the rainy season in three regions, across pastures, woody savannahs, grass savannahs, and fields, using formaldehyde and hand sorting.

Peripheral blood and haematopoiesis in bone marrow and liver tissue were investigated in Bufo bufo during the sexual cycle. A combined touch and imprinting tissue method were applied for the haematopoietic cell isolation. The liver is the primary site of erythropoiesis and partial lymphopoiesis. There was a positive correlation between body mass and liver mass, but it was not significant (P > 0.05). The primary role of yellow bone marrow is the maturation of haematopoietic cells, while red bone marrow is responsible for the production of blood cells.

Atlas projects and phylogeographic studies provide detailed information of great value on key species; distribution maps of the species are the primary input for establishing hotspots, conservation, and management plans. Krüper’s Nuthatch (Sitta krueperi) is endemic to Anatolia, Lesvos Island, and the Caucasus region. We surveyed more than 1400 point counts in Turkey and Greece, covering most of its global distribution in its potential habitat, coniferous forestland, during the breeding season.

The aim of the present study was to investigate species diversity and distribution of Aphelinus species in an elevational gradient in the Lagodekhi Reserve (Sakartvelo - Georgia) throughout a growing season. Two species of Aphelinus Dalman, 1820 (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae), A. humilis Mercet and A. thomsoni Graham, are recorded for the first time from Georgia and the Caucasus and two species (A. lagodekhiensis sp. nov. and A. sugonjaevi sp. nov.) are described as new to science.

Rocky outcrops in the intertidal zones of estuaries often contain a highly diverse microbenthic community which includes the hermit crab, Clibanarius symmetricus, an abundant species on the equatorial Amazon coast. However, the ecology of this anomuran is poorly understood. Given this, the present study investigated the spatiotemporal distribution and structure of the C. symmetricus populations that inhabit the rocky outcrops of the Marapanim estuary in northern Brazil.

Despite their comparative richness and accessibility in the Republic of Srpska and in Bosnia and Herzegovina in general, population studies of reptiles have not been performed in Srpska until recently. For example, one of the most common snake species in this area is the dice snake; nevertheless, previous studies have only reported its distribution. The aim of the present study was to analyze characteristics of the dice snake population along the Vrbanja River. Animals were processed during 2011 throughout their activity period.

The algal flora of 17 lakes and 1 pond in the Artabel Lakes Nature Park were investigated during two summer seasons (2013 and 2016). In total, 26 desmid taxa were found and identified as new records for the desmid flora of Turkey based on their morphotaxonomic characteristics and ecological preferences. The taxa identified belong to the genera Actinotaenium (1), Closterium (1), Cosmarium (15), Micrasterias (1), Spondylosium (1), Staurastrum (5), Teilingia (1), and Tetmemorus (1). Morphotaxonomy, ecology, and distribution of each species were discussed in detail.

Species distribution patterns, community structure, and dynamics are determined on a small scale by soil and habitat heterogeneity. The aim of this work is to evaluate the temporal changes in composition and structure of a tree community, revealing the ecological drivers of the observed vegetation patterns. For 16 years (2000, 2005, 2010, and 2016) we monitored the temporal variations in structure and floristic composition of a semideciduous seasonal forest through 20 × 20 m2 (400 m2 ) plots, totaling 2.08 ha of sampled area encompassing Cambisol (0.4 ha), Oxysol (1.12 ha), and Nitosol (0.

Heat tolerance is a key parameter that affects insect distribution and abundance. Glyphodes pyloalis Walker (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) is a devastating pest of mulberry in the main mulberry-growing regions and can cause tremendous losses to sericulture by directly feeding on mulberry leaves and transmitting viruses to Bombyx mori. Moreover, G. pyloalis shows a prominent capacity for adaptation to daily and seasonal temperature fluctuations and can survive several hours under high temperature.

Molecular regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis plays an essential role in the fine tuning of seasonal estrus in Capra hircus. Noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) are emerging as key regulators in sexual development and mammalian reproduction. In order to identify ncRNAs and to assess their expression patterns, along the HPG axis, we sequenced ncRNA libraries from hypothalamus, pituitary and ovary of three goats.
