In the study "Swash model approach for flows induced by low-frequency waves over wooden fences" the low-frequency wave, which is considered the main contribution to flows, is focused on assessing the possibility of sediment transports through the wooden fence. This study applies the SWASH model developed by Delft University of Technology to carry out a couple of wave scenarios for the southeast and northeast monsoons that were inherited from a previous study.

Ebook "Analytical ultracentrifugation of polymers and nanoparticles" is divided into chapters concerning instrumentation, sedimentation velocity runs, density gradient runs, application examples and future developments. In particular, the detailed application chapter demonstrates the versatility and power of AUC by means of many interesting and important industrial examples. Thus the book concentrates on practical aspects rather than details of centrifugation theory.

A riverbank failure model: A case study for the segment of Tien River flowing through Sadec, Vietnam
In the paper, we propose a mathematical model that combines bottom erosion and riverbank failure mechanisms. The model incorporates high-performance GPUs (Graphics Processing Units) to enhance its computational efficiency and capability. It utilizes a set of equations, such as the Reynolds equations, sediment transport equations, and bed load continuity equation, to simulate the dynamics of flow, sediment transport, and changes in the riverbed.

In addition to the role of river flow, it is strongly influenced by marine dynamics. The erosion and accretion activities occur mainly in estuaries. The results above show trend of river development: i) Meandering channel is the most vulnerable to changes for morphology of channel by erosion and accretion of sediment and can create 1–2 horseshoe pools by the river change line; ii) Braided channel mainly changes in the bottom of channel by the formation of channel bar; iii) Straight channel mainly changes in the estuary (the mouth of the river can be moved, enlarged or narrowed).

Flow and sediment budgetof the Mekong River (MR)is of typical importance for the sustainability and survivability of the Vietnamese Mekong Delta (VMD) in the context of sea level rise due to climatic change. The VMD is sinking and shrinking due to rapidly morphologicaldegradation caused byaltered flow regime and reduced sediment supply from the MR as the result of upstream hydropower dams’ development

This paper will review the existing popular mathematical models available to predict sediment flow to a reservoir. The study shows that existing models can successfully simulate reservoir sedimentation, however, each model has limitations and depending on the problem scope and complexity and data availability they require good understanding and judgment to choose an appropriate model.

Analysis of ca. 1400 km of multichannel seismic data indicate that the distal part of the Sakarya Canyon within the continental rise is an unstable region with sediment erosion. Fourteen buried debris flows (DB1–DB14), in the stacked form within Plio–Quaternary sediments between 1400 and 1950 m water depth, were observed in the surveyed area. Their run-out distances range from 3.8 to 24.4 km. The largest debris flow DB10 affects ca. 225 km2 surficial area transporting ca. 15 km3 of sediment in S to N direction.

The study presents thermal structure and active-passive tectonic parts of the Eastern Mediterranean Region. Curie point depth, heat flow map, Moho depth and sediment thickness are used for interpretation. The levelled magnetic data that obtained from the World Digital Magnetic Anomaly Map (WDMAM) is used. The magnetic anomaly is divided into 39 zones for Curie point depth estimation. The Curie point depth values are calculated into Fourier domain. Then heat flow map is generated. The estimated Curie point depth values are ranging from 4.5 km to 25 km.

These geochemical traits point to the adakite-like affinity for Pertek andesite-dacite porphyries, however, they present some geochemical characteristics of both oceanic slab-derived and continental crust-derived adakites and show a dual character. Enrichment in K2 O, Th, Rb, and Hf in these adakitic porphyries is mostly associated with the crust-derived terrigenous sediments during active subduction, before the Early Miocene.

The paper summarizes research results of the use of different types of grasses; their use as important and effective vegetative hedge that when grown on the contour significantly reduces the flow of sediment from eroding sites and reduces runoff, both simultaneously, and at a low cost, compared to more traditional engineered practices. Various grasses have unique characteristics and capability to reduce run off, bind soil at slope over a wide range of site conditions.

While construction of the Aswan High Dam (AHD) has stopped concurrent flooding events, River Nile is still subject to low intensity flood waves resulting from controlled release of water from the dam reservoir. Analysis of flow released from New Naga-Hammadi Barrage, which is located at 3460 km downstream AHD indicated an increase in magnitude of flood released from the barrage in the past 10 years. A 2D numerical mobile bed model is utilized to investigate the possible morphological changes in the downstream of Naga-Hammadi Barrage from possible higher flood releases.

A realistic new sediment–laden water prediction computer model was developed. In this model unsteady non-uniform flow computations were incorporated. Using this model, flooding flow–sediments were simulated and compared to earlier research including hydrologic engineering centre (HEC-series) computer models. Uncertain value of parameters and errors in flow–sediment transport equation in existing coupled flow–sediment models were studied.

The study area is situated in the Araplı-Erdemli (Kayseri) area in the north-eastern part of the Cappadocian Volcanic Province (CVP), central Anatolia. The Late Miocene series comprises lacustrine and fluvial deposits interbedded with ignimbrites and lava flows. The Late Miocene Mustafapaşa member of the Ürgüp Formation comprises yellow to red mudstone that alternates with thin sandstone beds in the north-eastern part of the CVP.

The erosion/incision patterns of radiometrically well-constrained volcanic rocks provide excellent markers for revealing the landscape evolution. The Central Anatolian High Plateau represents an uplifted area that reaches up to 1500 m above sea level and includes the Cappadocian Volcanic Province (CVP). The CVP is composed of horizontally emplaced Neogene–Quaternary ignimbrites intercalated with lava flows and epiclastic continental sediments.
