A field experiment was carried out to evaluate the economic aspects of sesame cultivation in acidic soil and its management with the application of sulfur and lime during the summer (Kharif) seasons of 2014. The experiment was laid out in factorial randomize block design with four levels of sulfur (0, 15, 30 and 45 kg ha-1 ) and four doses of lime (CaCO3) (0, 100, 250 and 350 kg ha-1 ). The results indicated that at P=0.05 significantly higher seed (285.75 and 286.08 kg ha-1 ) and stalk (359.84 and 358.

A field experiment was conducted during winter season of 2013-14 to study the performance of different genotypes pigeon pea with planting geometry. The genotype and planting geometry significantly influenced the growth parameter, seed yield, stalk yield, harvest index, yield attributes (viz. seed pod-1 , pod plant-1 , seed plant-1 and 100 seed weight). Among the six genotypes (Asha, Rajeevlochan, RPS- 2007-106, Laxmi, RPS2008-4 and RPS-2007-10) tested, genotype Asha (1281 kg ha-1 ) recorded significantly highest seed yield over the other genotype.

A field experiment was conducted during the kharif season of 2011 and 2014 to study the response of sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) to plant growth regulators. The experiment was conducted in Randomized Block Design with ten treatments and replicated thrice. Among the different treatments T5 (IAA @ 100 ppm at flowering has recorded maximum value for plan height (131.8 cm) and maximum number of capsules per plant at 70 DAS (55.5). The significantly highest 1000 seed weight (3.

KBSH-44, a public sector sunflower hybrid has high biomass production capacity with yield comparable to other popular hybrids. This hybrid is tall with more stalk weight wherein, photo-assimilates are locked up in vegetative parts with a reduced translocation to their productive structures (seed). Any approach, which reduces the plant height, may improve the translocation efficiency to the seed and thus seed yield. In this context, a field experiment was conducted to reduce the plant height by foliar application of plant growth retardants viz.

A field experiment was conducted at KVK, Kalburgi, on black soils. The zero tillage practices were followed since 3 years in five main plots and different reduced nutrient levels were imposed as subplots, by following split plot design. Every year same crop pigeonpea genotype TS-3R was grown. The prophylactic measures were undertaken against pests and diseases. Biological observations were analysed at 50 per cent flowering.

A field experiment was conducted at Annamalai university experimental farm Chidambaram during kharif 2014 to study the effect of micro nutrient management in hybrid sunflower on growth and yield. Application of 150% RDF (60:90:60 kg NPK ha-1 ) along with micro nutrient @250 g ha-1 at 25 &45 days after sowing, recorded higher plant height (64.88, 145.26 and 166.24) at 30,60 and harvest stage, respectively over control. Similar trends was also noticed in days to 50 per cent flowering (56.
