Dimorphic seeds from Suaeda aralocaspica exhibit different germination behaviors that are thought to be a bet-hedging strategy advantageous in harsh and unpredictable environments. To understand the molecular mechanisms of Suaeda aralocaspica dimorphic seed germination, we applied RNA sequencing and small RNA sequencing for samples collected at three germination stages.

Drought is major abiotic stress around the world which posturing great challenges to the germination, growth and production of crops. Early crop growth stages like germination and seedling growth are very critical under drought. Seed treatment technologies are required to enhance the germination and stress tolerant index of the seedlings under drought condition. The investigation was aimed to carry out to assess the impact of PPFM (Pink Pigmented Facultative Methylotroph) and PGRs on alleviating the drought stress effects in tomato in early growth stage.

Leucaena leucocephala is a medium-sized, multipurpose tree which is a valuable source of pulpwood, small timber, fuel wood, fodder and green manure. Poor and delayed seed germination is reported due to seed collection at improper maturity stage coupled with physical dormancy. Hence, the present study was carried out to determine the exact maturity stage for seed collection at three locations of northern India i.e. Agra (S1), Mathura (S2) and Hathrus (S3).

Seeds of Gmelina arborea many times do not germinate due to unknown reason. So the study was initiated to determine optimum stage of fruit maturity (green, yellow and yellow brown), suitable growing environment (agro-net shade and open field condition) and sowing time (August, September, October, November, December and January) on germination and seedling growth. Significant differences were exhibited among the fruit maturity levels, growing environment and sowing time for all the traits.

Seed germination and seedling establishment are most vital stages in plant growth cycle, playing major role in determining the final density of plants. In drought prone areas, poor seed germination and seedling emergence are the major problems. Seed priming is known to improve germination and seedling emergence under different environmental stresses. Salicylic acid (SA) also plays a major role in regulation of many physiological processes e.g. growth, development, ion absorption and germination of plants.

Field experiment was conducted on “Effect of climatic factor and date of sowing on wheat crop in Allahabad condition, Uttar Pradesh” at Forest Nursery, College of Forestry, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences, Allahabad, (U.P.). The objective of this research was to find out the role of date of sowing and climatic factors on different stages in wheat crop. The result of study indicated that after date of sowing, the maximum germination of seed was observed within 1-7 days and total 78 % of germination achieved.

The use of industrial waste water for irrigation through drip system has emerged a very important way to utilize its nutrients and removal of its pollutants load by cultivating various crops (tomato, brinjal). An experiment was conducted to evaluate the impact of textile factory effluents (0, 10, 35, 75 and 100% concentration) on germination and some physiological parameters like biomass production, root development in vegetable crop. Plants were raised in small pots in triplicate and irrigated with various concentrations (0, 10, 35, 75 and 100%) of effluent.

Wheat is a major cereal crop of the world and one third of the world's population uses it as a staple food. However, with the changing climatic scenario and prevalence of higher temperatures, heat stress has become a major factor limiting productivity. Hence, the present study was conducted with the objective to develop suitable mitigation strategy to counter the adverse effect of heat stress. The field experiment was conducted during rabi2017-18 and rabi 2018-19 in the Division of Seed Science and Technology, ICAR - Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, India.

Salinity has negative impact on plants such as poor germination, reduction in root length, reduction in shoot length and adverse effect on early seedling growth. In order to study the effect of salinity (NaCl 180 mM) on seed germination of soybean, an experiment was conducted to screen 82 diverse soybean genotypes. The results revealed that salinity stress caused by NaCl reduced both germination percentage and seedling growth of soybean varieties. Genotypes differed significantly in terms of tolerance to salinity.

A field experiment was conducted at fruit research station, Imliya, Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Jabalpur to study the influence of GA3 and date of sowing on growth and development of custard apple seedlings. Significantly, maximum fresh weight of roots (0.75g), dry weight of root (0.20g) and total dry matter (0.37g) were obtained at 120 days after germination under 500ppm GA3 treatment. Minimum of these attributes was registered with untreated seeds. Among different sowing dates, D4 recorded maximum fresh weight of roots (0.87g), dry weight of roots (0.

Metal contamination and pollution are of human and environmental concern Phytoremediation is one of the suitable high-efficiency means to treat metal pollution. This study aims to observe the responses of Pisum sativum L. in its early life stage to three metals, arsenic (As), copper (Cu) and lead (Pb) in laboratory conditions. Seeds of P. sativum were treated with water containing 0, 50, and 500 µg/l of these metals over a period of 7 days. The results show that the germination of seeds is similar for the control and metal treatments, ranging from 90-100% after 4 days of watering.

Compared with the control, chlorophyll a, b and carotenoid contents decreased significantly under pollution stress. Rate of photosynthesis and stomatal conductance dropped drastically, whereas CO2 level in the mesophyll increased at the polluted sites. The maximum adverse effects were observed at site B, situated 2 km from the emission source.

Electrification of workers' villages is strongly recommended. Water supplies from a single surface source for the whole development including the oi l palm mil l and from strategically sited groups of tube wells have been costed. An emergency system of suit- ably capped shallow wells is provided near each estate workers' village. CAMDEV has its own source of seed for improved planting material.

A generic sample normalization method applicable in relative comparison of mRNAs quantified with real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is proposed. The method was applied in samples obtained from tomato seeds after osmopriming and aging treatments and from untreated seeds at early imbibition stage, when seeds had not completed germination.
