The project was taken to find out the designing parameters of the planter and the machine component for small power engine. In designing, engineering parameters like draft of the planter, working width, seed box capacity, number of furrow openers, power requirement and the engineering views were drawn. Some physical and mechanical properties of fenugreek seeds and plant were evaluated. The average length, width, thickness and geometric mean diameter of fenugreek seed were 3.47 mm, 2.53 mm, 1.61mm and 2.41 mm, respectively. The observed mean value of fenugreek plant for length, width and stalk diameter was 593.12 mm, 118.16 mm and 2.48 mm, respectively.

Geographically and phenotypically diverse 860 G. hirsutum germplasm lines were evaluated under North Zone irrigated conditions of India during 2011-12 and 2012-13 for a different flower retention period, seed cotton yield and other desirable traits. Small tractor operated seed planter with battery drive consists of a frame, furrow openers, individual seed boxes and battery drive, vertical rotor type seed metering mechanism, push button switch, and speed regulator. Seed metering mechanism gets a drive from the dc motor with aids of chain and sprocket arrangement instead of from ground wheel. As per the design calculations, the width of seed planter was 1.25 m. An investigation was carried out in the BC4F4 generation with 95 plants for studying variability, correlation and path analysis. Low PCV and GCV values were recorded for the characters namely, days to fifty percent flowering, plant height, panicle length, number of productive tillers, grain length, grain width and hundred seed weight. High heritability coupled with high genetic advance as percentage of mean was observed for plant height, panicle length, number of productive tillers, grain width, seeds per panicle.
