Selected districts of Tripura

The present study was taken up in the state of Tripura where two districts viz- Sepahijala and Gomati were purposively selected as these were mostly inhabited by Deb Barma and Jamatia tribes. Four villages from each district were selected and a total of 100 respondents were selected by Snowball sampling method making the total sample size 200.

Under nutrition is a major public health problem among school children. Adequate nutrition is critical for optimal growth and health development of children. To assess the nutritional health of rural tribal 6-12 years school going children of Khowai district, Tripura. The sample for the present cross sectional study was conducted in three schools (Sukhiabari Jr. B School, R.S Colony Sr. B School and Kalidas Debbarma Smriti Sr. B School) rural based primary and Sr. B School of Khowai district, Tripura, in India.

The present study was carried out to study the marketing pattern of Rubber plantation in Tripura State. In the first stage two districts namely South Tripura and Gomati were selected purposively due to having highest area under rubber plantation crop, while in the second stage one block from each district was selected randomly and further from each block three villages were randomly selected; from each village 10 respondents were selected on the based on stratified random sampling methods.

The study was carried out in the two district of Tripura, viz., West Tripura and South Tripura with randomly selected 200 rice farmers from purposively selected 4 blocks of the districts. The State of Tripura is located between 22o 56” and 24o 32” North latitude and between 90o 09” and 92o 20” East latitude. Tripura is a landlocked State. System of Rice Intensification (SRI) method of paddy cultivation is important because it needs less seed, less water, less fertilizer and less attack of pest & disease but per hectare yield gain is more than traditional method of paddy cultivation.

Tripura is one of smallest state among the Indian states. Having a very limited area, Tripura has got a diverse agro-climatic conditions which highly suitable to grow various horticultural crops. Pineapple fruit is widely grown in Tripura and is the fifth leading pineapple producing state of India. So many farmers were directly depends on pineapple for their livelihood years back. But since from few years back the production level of pineapple in Tripura was gradually decreasing and also area under pineapple was shrinking regularly.

Betel vine (Piper betle L. ) in India is grown as an important cash crop across the states, of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, Assam, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. The Indian betel leaves are in great demand in several countries like where demand far exceeds the local supply. Cultivation of betel vine is one of the most important horticultural crops, is gradually increasing its popularity in the Nadia districts as cash crop.
