This review provides new insight into the RFI and its relationship with productive traits in different species of poultry. In poultry breeding programs, use of the RFI in selection procedures as a negative trait must be adopted to produce an efficient breed with low feed costs and high productivity. From the point of view of an environmental perspective, selecting birds with lower RFI reduces emissions of ammonia and greenhouse gases from poultry houses.

The concept of aesthetic labour and sprezzatura may offer a new way of seeing employees. The concept needs to be tested along two routes – the employee and the organisation. The focus is firstly inwards to the recruitment, selection and training of staff and secondly outwards, to the public faces the organisation presents to the specific business environment.
