  • The study indicated the beneficial effects of drip irrigation in terms of 23.5 % increase in yield and 48.6 % water saving whereas drip with fertigation resulted into 40 to 61 % increase in pomegranate yield as compared to conventional method. The 100 % recommended dose of fertilizer through drip in 20 weekly splits showed 61 % increase in yield (14.6 t ha-1 ).

  • clusterbean (Cymopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub.) An attempt has been made to evaluate the effect of abiotic constraints (drought and temperature) on the growth of rhizobia isolated from clusterbean grown in semiarid regions of Haryana with a view to screen out stress tolerant rhizobial isolates. A total of 158 rhizobial isolates have been used for screening their stress tolerating ability with contrast to environmental abiotic soil conditions commonly prevailing in semi-arid regions of Haryana. All the isolates were phenotypically and biochemically characterized.

  • India is the largest producer and consumer of the pulses in world. There is a huge shortage of pulses in the country to meet out the domestic demand especially of vegetarian population. The low production and productivity of pulses under Indian condition is mainly due to several biotic and abiotic constraints. In general, the pulses crops are more susceptible to the stresses including weeds as compare to the cereals and oilseeds. It was widely reported that yield losses due to weeds especially in the pulses are more than the loss caused either by insect-pest or diseases.

  • Chickpea, (Cicer arietinum L.) is one of the most important pulse crops of India, which belongs to family Fabaceae. It occupies very important position in semiarid farming system both for human nutrition and restoring the soil fertility. Occurrence of dry root rot caused by Rhizoctonia bataticola (Taub.) Butler is emerging as a serious biotic constraint in recent years for successful and profitable cultivation of chickpea the efficacy of various fungicides viz.
