Seminal parameters

Free amino acids are found in spermatozoa and seminal plasma. Their qualitative and quantitative presence have been affected by many factors. Under in vitro storage conditions, their effects on spermatozoa in animal species and also human have been concerned over the last decades. In this study, the effects of tryptophan, phenylalanine and cysteine on DNA integrity, lipid peroxidation, viability and motility parameters in spermatozoa of the common carp (Cyprinuscarpio) were assessed during short-term storage.

The present investigation was carried out to evaluate the effect of feeding of Azollaon sexual behaviour, seminal characteristics and freezability in Marwari Stallions. Three adult fertile Marwari stallions were subjected to a switchover technique of feeding in which they were fed with basal feed for 45 days (T0), then for next 45 days feeding trial 10% of total concentrate feed protein was replaced by Azolla supplementation (T1). All the parameters were recorded during control and treatment feeding trials.

In the study, semen samples from five sexually mature rams were evaluated for various seminal parameters, the live sperm percentage was significantly (p0.05) between or within breeding (winter) and non-breeding (summer) seasons.

The present study was undertaken to investigate the effect of temperature humidity index (THI) on various seminal attributes in buffalo bulls. Forty one ejaculates (41) from two buffalo bulls of 4 to 6 years weighing 500 to 750 kgs reared at semen production centre, Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Pantnagar India, were used. Semen was collected twice a week through AV method for 6 months. The temperature and relative humidity of respective days was taken from meteorological department located nearby.

The effect of smoking on male reproduction has also been studied where semen quality was investigated in different cross-sectional studies including infertile patients with conflicting results. This article aimed to assess the relationship between smoking and male infertility.

The study was conducted to detect haptoglobin in seminal plasma (SP-Hp) of Awassi rams and the effect of the breeding season on its concentration, along with determining the correlation with its concentration in serum (S-Hp) and main semen variables. Pre-warmed artificial vagina was used to collect semen samples biweekly from five Awassi rams. Semen samples were evaluated for volume, concentration and sperm motility. Blood samples were collected 10–30 min after semen collection. The concentration of serum and seminal plasma Hp was determined using ELISA.

Zinc in seminal fluid originates primarily from the prostate gland. It is pivotal for male sexual function because it affects the quantity, quality and mobility of sperm. Materials and methods: the semen samples were obtained from 300 male partners of infertile couples who attended the Department of Biomedicine and Genetics at the Hanoi Medical University between the ages of 18 and 50 years; they were then analysed for routine seminal parameters. They were collected and analysed according to WHO 2010 guidelines.
