Reconstructing phylogenetic trees from protein sequences normally requires empirical amino acid substitution models to calculate the likelihood of trees or genetic distances between species. The tree of life is classified into three domains of Eukaryotes, Archaea, and Bacteria. The amino acid substitution models have been intensively studied for decades, but few are related to Bacteria. Rooting bacterial trees remains a challenging problem in the phylogenetic analysis due to the long branch separating Bacteria and other domains.

The selectivity of 4-(Decyloxy) benzoic acid (DBA) liquid crystal in surface adsorption region (303.2–328.2K) and thermodynamic region (423.2 – 433.2K) was investigated by inverse gas chromatography at infinite dilution (IGC-ID). The selectivity parameters of the structural isomer series named butyl acetate, butyl alcohol, and amyl alcohol series were calculated for the DBA using IGC-ID technique.

A method based on supramolecular liquid phase microextraction has been developed for the preconcentration and determination of trace levels of Sudan I. 1-decanol and tetrahydrofuran were used as supramolecular solvent components. Trace levels of Sudan I were extracted into the extraction solvent phase at pH = 4.0 Analytical parameters such as pH value, supramolecular solvent volume, ultrasonication, centrifugation, model solution volume, matrix effects have been optimized. The limit of detection and the limit of quantification values for Sudan I were calculated as 1.74 μg L−1 and 5.

The aim of this paper is to investigate collective excitations and the damping rate in a multilayer structure consisting of three monolayer graphene sheets with inhomogeneous background dielectric at zero temperature within random-phase approximation. Numerical results show that one optical branch and two acoustic ones exist in the system. The lowest frequency branch disappears as touching single-particle excitation area boundary while two higher frequency branches continue in this region.

The uptake rate of nitrate by leaves and roots was simultaneously investigated in the seagrass T. hemprichii collected from Lo river, Nha Trang. The principle of nutrient uptake of seagrass was based on the approaches of the Michaelis-Menten model. The laboratory experiments of nitrate uptake were done the ranges of ambient nitrate concentrations in the separate water column of leaves and roots. The calculated results indicated that the nitrate uptake rate through the leaves was higher than that of the roots.

Estimating water saturation is one of the main challenging aspects in reservoir characterisation. Good estimation of this parameter enables us to calculate reserve accurately. According to the drilling program approved for Hai Thach field, the drilling section below the 16” casing liner (14.85” internal diameter) will be carried out by two separate BHAs: first drilling the 12.25” section by PDC bit to the section target, then under-reaming the wellbore to 14.5” and 16.5” diameter in order to run 13.625” casing string. Using two separate BHAs for reaming the wellbore certainly leads to a time increase in the run in hole (RIH) and pull out of the hole (POOH) of the drill-string and hence the associated costs such as rig and other related third party services.

Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ciceri chickpea wilt, PCR, ITS Eight variants of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ciceri were isolated from wilt infected chickpea plants from diverse locations of northern Karnataka. Genetic variability was studied by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification with specific primer and genetic identity among each variant was calculated and results depicted that there was minimum genetic variation among the variants collected from the diverse locations. In this paper the authors wanted to reveal the relationship between overall economic development measured by gross domestic product per capita (GDPPC) influences the insurance market development measured by indicators such as gross written premium per capita (GWPPC) and the share of gross written premium in GDP. Therefore, the authors have calculated correlation coefficients for EU27, and separately for old EU members (EU15) and new EU member states (EU12) for the 2000-2009 period.
