In this study, a total of 30 yeast isolates were recovered from local fruits in Thua Thien Hue province. Genetic characterization based on the ITS sequences identified isolates belonging to 3 species including Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Lachancea fermentati, and Clavispora fructus, with high sequence homology (over 99%) compared to published sequences in the GenBank.

Plasmodium falciparum (Pf) whole-organism sporozoite vaccines have been shown to provide significant protection against controlled human malaria infection (CHMI) in clinical trials. Initial CHMI studies showed significantly higher durable protection against homologous than heterologous strains, suggesting the presence of strain-specific vaccine-induced protection.

The selectivity and the thermostability of EndoBI-1 and EndoBI-2 suggest that these enzymes may be useful for many scientific and industrial applications. In this study, the growing numbers of homologous sequences in different databases were exploited in a comparative approach to investigate structural properties of EndoBI-1 and EndoBI-2 enzymes. Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (HNRNP) A1 and A2 are the most abundant HNRNPs with nearly identical functions, and play important roles in regulating gene expression at multiple levels (i.e. transcription, posttranscription, and translation). However, the expression and regulation mechanism of HNRNPA1 and A2 themselves remain unclear. In this study, the amino acid sequences of HNRNPA1 and HNRNPA2 were compared and found to have 78% and 86% homology in key functional domains.

A large number of disease resistance genes or QTLs in crop plants are identified through conventional genetics and genomic tools, but their functional or molecular characterization remains costly, labor-intensive and inaccurate largely due to the lack of deep sequencing of large and complex genomes of many important crops such as allohexaploid wheat (Triticum aestivum L.).
