Shade house condition

The present investigation entitled “Effect of size of cuttings on rooting of different clonal rootstocks of apple” was carried out in shade net house conditions of apple and pear block of Department of Fruit Science, Dr Y S Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry Nauni, Solan HP during the year 2018-19. The experiment was laid out in Randomised Block Design comprising of 12 treatments replicated thrice.

Propagation of the fig tree predominately uses hardwood cuttings obtained from pruning stock plants. With a view to optimizing fig tree propagation, the effects of different growing conditions on the rooting of hardwood cuttings from the five varieties of fig were evaluated. An experiment was set up in a two factorial design, with two growing conditions (Open and Shade house) and different varieties (Poona, Deanna, Bellary, Dinakar, Conadria), 90days after starting the experiment, rooting, root length, survival percentage were all evaluated.

Keeping in view of these facts, the present investigation was carried out to find out the response of wedge grafting in different months of the year to assess the success of wedge grafting under shade net and poly house conditions.

An experiment was conducted onwedge grafting time, growing conditions on subsequent growth of grafted plants in guava (Psidium guajava L.) during 2014-2015.Wedge grafting was done during August (M1), September (M2), October (M3), November (M4), December (M5), January (M6) and February (M7)months under poly house and 50% shade net conditions. Wedge grafting in the month of August under poly house condition gave better response with respect to number of leaves per sprout, leaf area per sprout and leaf chlorophyll content.

The field experiment was conducted at Instructional Farm of Department of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri, to study the yield response of cucumber (cv. Gypsy) grown under shade net house to 35, 50, 75 per cent shading and Red shade net with 50 % shading and in open field condition.

Present study was done to examine the seasonal effects of different housing conditions on the performance of crossbred cattle calves (Karan Fries). Thirty healthy female calves of age between 5 and 6 months were selected and divided into five groups (six animals per group) and reared under different housing conditions for a period of 7 months.

The performance of green shade net on yield and quality of tomato was evaluated at farmers field in Shahdol district. Under shade net house condition green colour shade net having 50% shade factor was used in the study. Similar crop along with similar cultural practices in the open field and shade net cultivation was selected for performance evaluation. The study revealed that under shade net condition performance of tomato the crop yield, number of fruit per plant, fruit weight, plant height, harvest duration and number of harvest increased by 75.32 per cent, 61 per cent, 76.

The present experiment was conducted under shade net house for the management of root-knot nematode infesting tomato with nine treatments including untreated control. Results revealed that all the treatments were found significantly superior over an untreated control in reducing the root-knot nematode population, number of root galls and gall index and increasing the yield of tomato at termination. The propagation of rooted pepper plants and grafted pepper plants were produced by using orthotropic vine and plagiotropic branch of Paniyur-1 pepper plants, during the period 2015 to 2018 at Agricultural and Horticultural Research Station, Ullal. The one batch of cuttings of orthotropic pepper vine and plagiotropic branches were rooted in 4‟X6‟ poly bags and another batch of cuttings of orthotropic pepper vine and plagiotropic branches were grafted over on the Pepper colubrinum root stock for the study under 50 per cent shade house condition.

A field experiment was conducted during rabi, 2015-16 at Hi-Tech Horticulture Unit, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad to investigate the “Studies on integrated nutrient management in red cabbage grown under shade house condition”. The treatments consists of three levels of recommended dose of fertilizer that is 100 % (100:150:125 kg NPK/ha) and 75 % (75:112:75 kg NPK/ha) and 50 % RDF (50:75:62.5 kg NPK/ha), three levels of recommended dose of nitrogen (100 %, 50 % and 50 % RDN) provided through FYM and vermicompost and bio-fertilizers (Azotobactor and PSB).
