  • The present investigation entitled “Effect of size of cuttings on rooting of different clonal rootstocks of apple” was carried out in shade net house conditions of apple and pear block of Department of Fruit Science, Dr Y S Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry Nauni, Solan HP during the year 2018-19.   • Propagation of the fig tree predominately uses hardwood cuttings obtained from pruning stock plants. With a view to optimizing fig tree propagation, the effects of different growing conditions on the rooting of hardwood cuttings from the five varieties of fig were evaluated. An experiment was set up in a two factorial design, with two growing conditions (Open and Shade house) and different varieties (Poona, Deanna, Bellary, Dinakar, Conadria), 90days after starting the experiment, rooting, root length, survival percentage were all evaluated.

  • An experiment was conducted onwedge grafting time, growing conditions on subsequent growth of grafted plants in guava (Psidium guajava L.) during 2014-2015.Wedge grafting was done during August (M1), September (M2), October (M3), November (M4), December (M5), January (M6) and February (M7)months under poly house and 50% shade net conditions. Wedge grafting in the month of August under poly house condition gave better response with respect to number of leaves per sprout, leaf area per sprout and leaf chlorophyll content.

  • The performance of green shade net on yield and quality of tomato was evaluated at farmers field in Shahdol district. Under shade net house condition green colour shade net having 50% shade factor was used in the study. Similar crop along with similar cultural practices in the open field and shade net cultivation was selected for performance evaluation.   • The present experiment was conducted under shade net house for the management of root-knot nematode infesting tomato with nine treatments including untreated control. Results revealed that all the treatments were found significantly superior over an untreated control in reducing the root-knot nematode population, number of root galls and gall index and increasing the yield of tomato at termination.   • The propagation of rooted pepper plants and grafted pepper plants were produced by using orthotropic vine and plagiotropic branch of Paniyur-1 pepper plants, during the period 2015 to 2018 at Agricultural and Horticultural Research Station, Ullal.   • A field experiment was conducted during rabi, 2015-16 at Hi-Tech Horticulture Unit, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad to investigate the “Studies on integrated nutrient management in red cabbage grown under shade house condition”.
