This study utilized a non-destructive technique through quadrat sampling to identify and measure mangroves’ biodiversity and carbon stock. The allometric equation was applied to quantify the carbon stock and Shannon-Wiener diversity index to determine the biodiversity. Twelve species were identified from the 36 sampling plot with 10 × 10 meter.

Therefore, it pointed out that improving the carbon content of forests cannot guarantee the preservation and promotion of plant biodiversity. Preserving plant diversity should therefore be a priority in forest resource management. With the results obtained, the article contributes to creating a robust scientific basis and helping managers plan and develop strategies for the conservation and development of forest capital in the study area.

The aim of this study is to reveal the syntaxonomical structure of Tavşan Mountain in the Euxinian transition area in northern Turkey. Eight plant associations were determined and classified using the Braun–Blanquet phytosociological approach. Detrended correspondence analysis was also used to reveal the environmental heterogeneity among the plant associations. Raunkiaer life form ratios of syntaxa were calculated. Shannon–Wiener index values also were determined for each plant association.

This study evaluated the phytoplankton communities based on functional groups to obtain information about the water quality of Lake İznik, Turkey. The phytoplankton consisted of 103 taxa, classified in 12 phytoplankton functional groups (PFGs), with dominancy of 5 species, Chrysosporum ovalisporum, Dolichospermum mendotae, Planktothrix rubescens, Fragilaria capucina, and Mougeotia sp. The Shannon–Wiener diversity index (H’) was calculated and results ranged between 0.41 and 2.47.

This paper presents a pioneer study on the microbial diversity associated with the rhizosphere of Arnebia euchroma, considering the medicinal importance and critically endangered status of this taxon. Rhizospheric soil samples of Arnebia euchroma were collected from two villages namely Nako and Chango in Kinnaur and one i.e. Gue in Lahaul & Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh.

Understanding the genetic variability and diversity of a crops species provides opportunity for plant breeders to develop new and improved cultivars having both farmer-preferred and breeder-preferred traits. In the present study 11 morphological characters and 16 quantitative characters were recorded from 27 advance breeding lines/varieties to identify useful alleles for future breeding. Genotypes varied considerably in plant growth and morphological characters. The overall mean of ShannonWiener diversity index (H’) value was 0.

The present investigation highlighted the facultative mutualistic association of six ant species, viz. Camponotus parius Emery, Meranoplus bicolor Guerin-Meneville, Paratrechina longicornis Latreille, Monomorium dichroum Forel, Technomyrmex albipes Smith and Oecophylla smaragdina Fabricius (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) belonging to three sub-families (Formicinae, Myrmicinae and Dolichoderinae) with lac insect (Kerria lacca Kerr) on host plants, Flemingia semialata. Out of these, Technomyrmex albipes was the most abundant and dominated species which constituted 76.66 percent (394.8 no.

This indicates that H‘ index may also be more sensitive to environmental disturbances than the AMBI and M-AMBI. Furthermore, the EcoQ given by the M-AMBI was a neutralization between those given by the H‘ and AMBI indices. As there were no environmental data available in this study, that the H′ index was more sensitive to environmental disturbances than the AMBI and M-AMBI has yet to be further elucidated. Further investigation of these three indices with environmental data is also needed to get a comprehensive answer to this matter.
