Shared cues

This article stems from the author’s attempt to explore the constituents of the intercultural communication, the benefits it brings to the society, as well as suggestions to avoid intercultural communication shocks in certain settings with a view to advance the social responsibility for the human’s common shared goals while ensuring the multi-dimensional diplomatic relations.

Non-verbal communication augments verbal messages one sends. It can either ease understanding or confuse receivers. If it is a business deal therefore, there will be no closure of transactions. This encounter shall require reading nonverbal messages to discover shared cues leading to closure of deals. This is why this experiment was conducted to determine the time lag (TL) for which an occurrence will result in an understanding or misunderstanding. Two controlled groups were subject-respondents in the study, an odd numbered group, R1 to R7, and an even numbered, R1 to R8.

The capacity to evaluate beauty plays a crucial role in social behaviour and social relationships. It is known that some characteristics of beauty are important social cues that can induce stereotypes or promote different behavioural expectations. Another crucial capacity for success in social interactions is empathy, i.e. the ability to understand and share others’ mental and emotional states.

Collaborative learning enables participants in a learning community to externalize and share knowledge, experiences, and practice. However, collaborative learning in an online environment can be challenging due to the lack of face-to face interaction. This current study examined twenty graduate students’ experiences of using VoiceThread for a collaborative activity in an entirely online course to explore students’ perceptions of using multi-modal communication for collaboration and knowledge sharing.

In this paper, we refer to an LTE-A scenario in which the underlay mode is adopted to allow D2D pairs to communicate directly by sharing sub-channels with Cellular Users (CUEs) and cellular mode (CELLM), where two D2D users communicate through the eNB as conventional CUEs and no direct D2D link is established.

This paper describes the development of a rule-based computational model that describes how a feature-based representation of shared visual information combines with linguistic cues to enable effective reference resolution. This work explores a language-only model, a visualonly model, and an integrated model of reference resolution and applies them to a corpus of transcribed task-oriented spoken dialogues.
