In this paper, free vibration of bidirectional functionally graded sandwich (BFGSW) beams is studied by using a finite element formulation. The beams made from three distinct materials are composed of three layers, a homogeneous core and two bidirectional FGM face layers with material properties varying in both the thickness and longitudinal directions by power gradation laws.

This study investigates the performance of prototype U-FREIs under cyclic loading by both experiments and FE analysis. In experiments, four prototype specimens with the same sizes in plan and two different values of shear modulus are produced, and then the characteristic properties including the horizontal stiffness as well as the energy dissipation capacity and the equivalent viscous damping are assessed.

The main parameters of this device are calculated from the ratio of shear stress and normal stress at the fatigue of the asphalt concrete according to the Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion. Test results with asphalt specimens show that the device is stable, the acting vertical loads were smaller and more stable.

Steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) is a multiple-composite material developed during the early 1970s. In SFRC, short steel fibers are randomly distributed in concrete. Steel fibers can prevent the development of micro-cracks inside the concrete and reduce the expansion and development of the macro-cracks, thus enhance mechanical performance of SFRC. However, there is lack of studies on the influence of flowability of fresh SFRC on the steel fiber distribution patterns and mechanical properties of hardened SFRC.

The study results for dynamic response of PFGCP present the effect of geometrical ratio, elastic foundations: Winkler foundation and Paskternak foundation; loads: mechanical load and thermal load; and the material properties and distribution type of porosity. The results are shown numerically and are determined by using Galerkin methods and Fourth-order Runge-Kutta method.

In this paper, the severe plastic deformation method (SPD) known as constrained groove pressing (CGP) was applied to produce ultrafine-grained microstructure in IF steel sheets. Silane and NaOH were used to treatment bamboo shoot culm sheath fiber. After treatment, the interfacial shear strength of fiber with MAPP increased by 24% and 30% respectively. Alkali treatment has much effect on bamboo shoot culm sheath fiber than silane treatment. Washing NaOH treatment bamboo fiber with acetic acid was improved IFSS of bamboo fiber and polypropylene (PP) and strength of composite PP reinforced by bamboo fiber.
