  • In this study, Lythrum salicaria plant was tested in hydroponic culture to demonstrate its zinc accumulating capacity and tolerance to different zinc levels. Lythrum salicaria seedlings were grown in 10% Hoagland solution containing 0, 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 75, and 100 mg/L zinc, and 30 mg/L zinc with different pH levels (5, 6, and 7). Following this, the seedlings were harvested after 1st, 2nd, 4th and 7th days. Zinc caused significant decreases in the relative values of the mean root-shoot length and fresh weight of the plant (92 to 75%; 100 to 92%; 64.2 to 41.

  • Blue pine (Pinus wallichiana) plantations in Kashmir forests have been noticed to be affected by blight diseases showing typical symptoms of shoot blight, die-back and curling of terminal shoots. Plants grown in nutritionally poor soils are more susceptible to diseases. The type of major nutrient supplementation plays a major role in predisposition of plant to the infection by needle blight pathogens. Three fungi were isolated from the infected needles of Blue pine bearing fructification.

  • The field experiments were conducted at Nematology field, ICR Farm, AAU., Jorhat during 2016 and 2017 to know the efficacy of bioagent, P. fluorescens and biofertilizer, Azotobacter sp. for that P. fluorescens and Azotobacter sp. were enriched in the substrates like farmyard manure, vermicompost and enriched compost. After enrichment of P. fluorescens and Azotobacter sp. were applied singly and in combination at the rate of 1% per hectare (ha). These treatments were compared with untreated control. It was recorded that the combined application of P. fluorescens and Azotobacter sp.

  • This paper discusses about the biochemical and morphological changes in Eucalyptus sp clones to elevated CO2 conditions in AOTC (Automated Open Top Chambers). In this study, three months old clones of Eucalyptus sp were exposed to elevated CO2 levels in open top chambers at 900 ppm and 600 ppm for a period of four months. In Eucalyptus sp clones, the highest values of chlorophyll was recorded by the clone I (39.48) and the lowest values of chlorophyll (26.70) is recorded in clone V in ambient conditions for Eucalyptus sp after four months. The clonal mean was high (36.
