Siderophore producing bacteria
-
The aim of this study is to create the inoculant containing beneficial bacteria producing ACC deaminase, IAA and siderophore, which are isolated from native plant root and rhizosphere soils in islands to improve the coral sand and to support for vegetable growing toward self-sufficiency green vegetable for the daily mean of people in the islands.

Seed-borne rice endophytes are capable of disseminating into host plant tissues as well as to their rhizosphere. Here, we investigated the occurrence of siderophore-producing bacteria (SPB) in the seed endospheres of two distinct rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivars, TK8 (ssp. japonica) and TCN1 (ssp. indica), and their dissemination into the rhizospheres through culture-dependent methods.

Iron is one of the most essential micronutrient for any living cells but the availability of iron is limited due to very low solubility of the dominant ferric iron (Fe3+) in soil. Bacteria can produce low molecular weight iron chelating compound called as siderophore. On account of that, an attempt was made in the present investigation to study the effect of siderophore producing rhizobacteria on growth of Okra and evaluation of biocontrol efficacy of the potential isolates against different phyto-pathogens in-vitro.

Endophytic bacteria are the association of bacterial microbe resides inside the plant tissues. They are reported to alleviate several biotic and abiotic stresses of plant. They are also found to be promote growth of plant through their several functional attributes viz., nitrogen fixation, phosphate solubilization, siderophore production and by producing plant growth regulators.

Siderophores (in Greek: iron carriers) are low molecular weight compounds produced under iron-limiting conditions by microorganisms that chelates Fe3+ (ferric iron) with high specific activity, which in turn make it available to the plant system. Selection of efficient siderophore producing plant associated bacteria and their potential role in enhancing plant iron uptake is a strategic approach for improving plant health as Fe is an integral component and cofactor for many biomolecules.

Environment pollution and the food shortage are the biggest problem faced by human beings. As the world population increase food requirement also increases. To fulfil the requirement of food the farmers are dependent on the chemical fertilizers which are harmful for environment. Thus the alternate to these problems are the use of biofertilizers.

Functionality associated with the plants play an important role in the health and growth of plants. Eleven endophytic bacterial isolates from different hosts were identified and were used for studying their functionality. Different endophytes identified by partial sequencing of 16S rDNA were: Bacillus licheniformis strain CRE1; B. subtilis, strain CNE215; B. subtilis strain PRE8; Bacillus sp. strain PNE17; B. cereus, strain PNE92; B. subtilis, strain LRE3; Bacillus sp. strain LRE7; Bacillus sp. strain WRE4; B. flexus strain WRE20; B.

The increase in prevalence of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria (ARB) is currently a serious threat, thus there is a need for new antimicrobial compounds to combat infections caused by these ARB. An antimicrobial-producing bacterium, Burkholderia paludis was recently isolated and was able to produce a type of siderophore with antimicrobial properties, later identified as pyochelin. The chelating ability of pyochelin has been well-characterized but not for its antimicrobial characteristics. It was found that pyochelin had MIC values (MBC values) of 3.13 mg/mL (6.26 mg/mL) and 6.26 mg/mL (25.
